Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy which is used by professionals to help individuals with psychological issues.

The aim of CBT is to effect change into a person's thought processes, behaviour and self-image. CBT aims to empower individuals with fresh understandings and approaches towards existing issues, allowing them to break the cycle of negative patterns of behaviour and thought.

CBT is a therapy tool which can only be used by train professionals. CBT is a talking therapy but is different from the other talking therapies in that it’s focus lies in present issues without using or discussing past experiences. CBT is a natural, non-medicated treatment which has been shown to successfully treat anxiety and depression.

The method of CBT involves assessment, goal setting and the development of a strategy to help achieve those goals. The best outcomes from CBT result from weekly sessions over a number of months, depending on the individual and rate of progress. The goals are to help the individual identify constructive approaches to dealing with and reacting to situations, affecting change and resolving issues.
