Cognitive therapies work with the brain in order to release limiting emotions and behaviours, so that a person is able to replace them with positive thoughts and start working towards their potential.

The Benefit of Cognitive Therapies

Do you feel as though you have negative behaviours that are holding you back?  Perhaps you feel like you need more motivation, or want to quit smoking, or simply want to learn how to use the cognitive aspects of your brain and body better.  Cognitive therapies can be extremely beneficial in all these areas and more.

For example, undertaking therapies such as brain gym or educational kinesiology can help you with your learning ability, improving your concentration and also your memory as well as more.  If you are struggling to find motivation in your life or find that you are not achieving your goals, life coaching, counselling and psychotherapy are fantastic therapies for achieving this.  They can help you to outline strategies that work for you and give you the encouragement that you need.  You will no longer have to be limited by your own thoughts or behavioural patterns.

Many people have unresolved issues from their past, issues that they may not realise that they are still being affected by.  There are therapies to clear these issues from the brain, as well as the associated fears, negative emotions, and limiting beliefs.  By clearing these, you are making way for fresh, new thoughts that put you on the path to achieving your full potential and you may end up surprising yourself in the process.

Believe it or not, cognitive therapies such as sound therapy can also retrain your hearing, and even allow you to hear things that you thought you may not ever hear again.  Essentially, cognitive therapies allow you to restructure the neurological pathways in your brain so that you may lead a more positive life that is free from negative emotions and self-limiting behaviours.

Brain Gym

Brain Gym is a program of physical activities that improve a person’s learning ability.  The program is made up of 26 activities that improve concentration, memory, reading, writing, physical coordination, and more.  Brain Gym develops the neural pathways in the brain the same way as nature does, through movement.

Breathwork

Breathwork is a therapy that uses the breath in order to clear unresolved issues, limiting beliefs, and past events that are standing in the way of a person achieving their potential.  Breathwork is client focused and a self-generated process.  It can be done one on one with a practitioner or in a group session. Each session is different as it is an organic process and the client may experience a physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual experience during their session.  Everyone can benefit from breathwork and, as there are many styles, it is simply a matter of finding the one that is best suited to you.

Counselling

Counselling is a therapy that enables the client to develop a further understanding about themselves and to make changes in their lives.  There are many types of counseling, with just a few being psychodynamic, CBT, and family therapy.  Counsellors will generally focus on a specific problem or life change, and counselling in invaluable to treating crisis situations, managing stress, for grief or trauma, and any other emotional or psychology problem.   Every session is confidential and conducted professionally.

Educational Kinesiology

Educational kinesiology has grown from Touch for Health, but as well as using muscle testing; it also assesses the client’s learning ability and their coordination in relation to their neurological integration.  The aim is to have the client learn how to integrate the left and right hemispheres of their brain in order to bring about positive changes in thinking and behaviour.  The techniques used can clear stress and behavioural blocks.

Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy combines cognitive therapeutic counselling techniques with subconscious healing techniques.  Being hypnotised just means that you feel very relaxed.  In this relaxed state, with some guidance, you can start to make the changes that you want to make to your automatic behaviours or emotional reactions so that they become positive instead of negative.  It is well known in its effectiveness for helping people to give up smoking and for weight management, but it also useful for such things as pain management, dealing with phobias, improving motivation, nail biting, and much more.

Life Coaching

Life coaching is a system of mentoring that can be used both in a person’s professional and personal life.  The life coach works with the client in order to set and achieve goals, find new ways to tackle situations, and also provide their client with encouragement and feedback.  Life coaches can help people in all areas of their life, where they want to achieve something new or unlock potential.

Meditation

Meditation has been used by many different cultures for thousands of years, and there are many different styles, so there is bound to be one that suits you.  Meditation involves directing your attention to something so that you can alter your state of consciousness; such things you can concentrate on include the breath, symbols, sounds, colours, and thoughts.  It is a simple practice but people should experiment with several styles of meditation in order to find the right one for them.  Meditation is often used to find inner guidance but it can also be used to manage chronic illness, manifest life changes, and stress relief, as well as much more.

Neuro Linguistic Programming

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) explores the relationship between how a person thinks, how they communicate both verbally and non-verbally, and their patterns of behaviour.  NLP is a behavioural technique that teaches people to change or adopt new behaviours as required and to choose their mental and physical states of wellbeing.  Essentially, it is about knowing what is happening inside yourself and others.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is a treatment that is offered for both behavioural and mental health issues.  Primarily, the goal is to increase a person’s awareness of behaviours that can result in physical and/or emotional harm.  The psychotherapist will work with the client in order to help unravel deep seated issues so that a person can become “unstuck" and move past them.  In some cases, listening devices are used to break old patterns, such as biofeedback.  Some problems that can be treated include anxiety, depression, learning difficulties, and relationship communication problems.

Sound Therapy

Sound therapy uses specially recorded music and sounds in order to retrain the way that you process sounds and the way that you listen.  It helps to educate and exercise the ear and brain so that the focus on the sounds that are helpful to you and filter out the sounds that are not.  Done correctly, it can restore a person’s ability to hear frequencies that may have become diminished through ear infections or exposure to loud noises.  Some benefits that can occur as a result of sound therapy include overcoming learning difficulties, reducing anxiety, improving concentration, lifts motivation, and improves communication, as well as having many other benefits.

Thought Field Therapy

Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is a drug free, non-invasive treatment that is designed to eliminate the cause of negative emotions.  Whenever a negative emotion, thought, or fear is experienced, a “thought field” is created.  The problems that a person may experience occur when the thought field is disturbed.  TFT is a meridian therapy that works by tapping specific points on the body in a certain sequence.  When the sequence is performed correctly, the person will notice a rapid improvement in the way that they feel.  Usually, they are no longer troubled by their particular problem.  A person is not required to talk about their problem with the practitioner so there is no distress or embarrassment at all.
