Anaemia is a deficiency of red cells or of haemoglobin in the blood which prevents the body from being able to circulate oxygen. The causes of anaemia are varied and include a shortage of iron in the diet, loss of blood, chronic illness, a genetic disease or defect or as a side effect from taking medication. Symptoms of anaemia are a general feeling of weakness and lethargy, paleness and breathlessness. Methods of treating this condition include having an iron rich diet, homeopathy, massage, vitamin therapy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture and Ayurveda. More serious treatments include blood transfusions or surgeries if internal bleeding occurs.
