Cholesterol is a type of fat that is part of animal cells and is important for human’s metabolic processes. An excess of cholesterol in the blood, however, increases the chance of heart disease. High cholesterol does not have any symptoms, causing people to be unaware of the issue. Treatments to lower cholesterol include taking medication, altering the diet, herbal remedies, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, yoga, and physical therapy.
