Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of the eyelid. Conjunctivitis can be caused by bacteria, virus, irritating substances, allergens or sexually transmitted infection. Symptoms may include redness in the eyes or inner eyelid, watering eyes, a yellow discharge, itching and burning eyes, blurred vision and an increased sensitivity to light. It can be treated with antibiotics, eye baths, warm or cool compresses, medication, avoiding allergens, homoeopathy, boric acid eyewash, and herbal therapies.
