Heatstroke is caused by extended heat exposure and is a form of hyperthermia which can raise the body temperature and cause dehydration. Symptoms may also include red or flushed skin, difficulty breathing, hallucinations, confusion, headache, seizure or coma and should be addressed immediately. Heatstroke is a medical emergency and requires the individual to be cooled as soon as possible. Applying ice packs to the armpits and groin is an effective way to cool someone down.
