Nosebleeds can be caused by nose picking, dryness, allergies, as a side-effect from specific medications, blood clotting disorders, high blood pressure or from high altitudes. Leaning slightly forward whilst gently squeezing the soft area of the nose can help stop the bleeding. After 15 minutes, if the nosebleed has not stopped, the person may require medical attention. Antibiotic ointments are available and homeopathy or herbal medicines can also help. Leaving the nose alone for a few days can also help repair and prevent nosebleeds.
