Tics are spontaneous, repeated muscle movements, often occurring in the face which can be caused by nervous system disorders, Tourette’s syndrome or during periods of intense stress. Tics are characterised as repeated, identical movements. Repeated twitching, shoulder shrugging and eye blinking are common manifestations of a tic. Medication, biofeedback, behavioral therapy, and counseling are common treatment options for tics.
