Whooping Cough is characterized by persistent spasms of coughing resulting in loud and convulsive respiration (known as the “whoop”). It is an infectious disease of the respiratory mucous membrane. Symptoms include a mild cough, low-grade fever, a runny nose that progresses to thick nasal discharge, and forceful coughing spells. Treatments include antibiotics, fluid replacement, homoeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and herbal medicine. Immunization is the standard form of prevention.
