Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years and offers an effective, drug-free complement or alternative to Western Medicine. A very wide range of physical and emotional conditions can be treated without the risk of side-effects using this branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which also includes fire cupping, heat lamp therapy and electro-acupuncture.
Chinese Medicine theory is holistic and views all symptoms (including psychological and emotional) as linked into recognisable patterns of illness. The underlying cause of a condition can often be recognised in Chinese Medicine terms and treated with long lasting results. Acupuncture is used to 'harmonise and rebalance' the system, stimulating local healing and gently guiding the whole body back towards good health. A patient may also need to consider changes in their lifestyle to prevent a problem recurring in the future.
Acupuncture needles are very fine, nothing like the hyperdermic needles used for injections, and are not painful - a dull, dragging sensation is what we try and acheive. Members of the British Acupuncture Council are comprehensively trained (minimum 3 years) and adhere to strict codes of practice, only using sterile disposable needles. Most patients find these treatments very relaxing and some even fall asleep.
