Welcome to Ajanta ReflexologyAjanta Reflexology offers personal and individual attention in a private environment from Sarah Sayer who is a fully trained and insured member of The Association of Reflexologists. Reflexology helped Sarah through a difficult time four years ago when she was diagnosed with the neurological disorder dystonia. She was then determined to train as a reflexologist so that she could share the benefits of this wonderful therapy with others.
Sarah trained at the renowned Pathways School of Reflexology in Norwich and qualified in April 2008. Having retired from a long career in the Civil Service, Sarah has now started her own reflexology practice in Wymondham.
Reflexology is a holistic therapy, treating the whole person not just the prevailing symptoms. It is not an alternative to seeking medical advice or attention, nor is it a beauty therapy or a foot massage.
Reflexology can help restore and maintain the body’s natural equilibrium and has anecdotally been shown to be effective for a range of conditions such as: Stress related disorders, migraine, back pain, sleep disorders, infertility, hormonal imbalances, arthritis and digestive disorders.
Sarah was inspired to name her practice Ajanta Reflexology after visiting the ancient Buddhist caves at Ajanta in the Maharashtra region of India www.ajantacaves.com . In one of the ancient caves there is a stone carving of a character massaging the feet of another, this carving is thousands of years old.
Reflexology treatment
What happens during a treatment?
A reflexology treatment usually involves lying or sitting down with feet and legs supported. After gathering medical and lifestyle information, some time is taken to find the most comfortable and relaxing position for the treatment. Gentle pressure is then applied to all areas of the feet, with particular attention paid to areas that correspond to the presenting condition. A treatment usually lasts for around 50 minutes, many patients find the experience deeply relaxing and often feel sleepy, sometimes actually falling asleep.
How will I feel after a treatment?
Many patients experience a sense of wellbeing and relaxation after a treatment, other reported reactions include light headedness, lethargy and a feeling of heightened emotion. It is important to report any reactions to the reflexologist as these are important to your treatment plan that will be tailored to your specific needs.
