Welcome to Alexis Hawley Acupuncture
My interest in alternative medicine started when I was at college studying performing arts. I decided to take up Swedish massage in the evenings, which lead onto other therapies and eventually traditional Chinese medicine. I graduated from the university of Lincoln with a bsc (hons) degree in acupuncture. Throughout my time at university I studied alongside an experienced acupuncturist to gain further knowledge. After university I went on to study and observe in 3 different hospitals in China and this allowed me to appreciate how beneficial it is for a whole society to integrate the west and east approach in the main hospitals.
I work in a very relaxing environment and I am very passionate about the incredible system of Chinese medicine. I am continually learning and it excites me to understand that there are no limits with helping others to help themselves.
I believe I have one of the most rewarding jobs in the world, helping people both physically and mentally whilst learning so much along the way is most enjoyable.
Massage
Alexis use a combination of swedish, chinese and Thai massage tailored to the individual to help eliminate the symptoms and give the best results.
Cupping
Glass cups are placed on parts of the body to form a suction. This treatment is pain free and tailored to each individuals needs. Cupping can help aches and pains by relieving muscle tension. It is also very beneficial for colds and flu and is great for eliminating stress.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a form of fire heat treatment that burns a herb called 'mugwort', this stimulates specific acupuncture points of the body to help relieve a wide range of symptoms. This is not used in every acupuncture treatment, it depends entirely on the presenting symptoms.
Herbal medicine
Alexis refers her clients to a local dr of chinese medicine if she feels the individual would benefit from both acupuncture and herbs.
Prices
The initial full assessment and treatment lasts 1.5h - £ 45
Each follow up session lasts 1h - £ 35
Each session may combine the techniques of traditional Chinese medicine
depending on the individual for no extra charge.
