SERVICES

Welcome to Castleview Acupuncture

Here at Castleview Acupuncture in Lincolnshire, we believe in looking at the person as a whole, helping you to create balance & harmony from within. We aim to provide Lincolnshire with a professional, quality Acupuncture service for everyone, in both clinic and home environments, with individually tailored treatment plans - this is not a "one size fits all".

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture has been practised for thousands of years in China and other Eastern cultures. There is even evidence of cupping therapy, often used in an acupuncture treatment, carved in the temples of Ancient Egypt.

Acupuncture works by helping the body to balance itself, using energy paths (known as meridians) and the body's own energy, known as Qi.

By stimulating or sedating the individually selected points along the meridians or energy paths, the Practitioner can help to balance the body's systems and help to maximise its functionality.

The smooth flow of Qi can be affected by many things, from physical to emotional traumas.

Acupuncture treatment involves the use of hair-thin, pre-packed,
sterilised needles which are gently inserted into carefully selected points around the body, depending on each individual patient's presenting condition.

By treating the cause and not just the symptoms, acupuncture aims to promote a more holistic solution to your problems.

What happens during my visit?

Initially, the practitioner will ask you a series of questions about your health, including your diet, sleeping habits, digestion and energy levels, along with your medical history and any medications you may be currently taking.

They will take your pulse on both wrists, noting factors such as the rhythm, speed and depth. They will also examine your tongue, noting the colour, shape and coating (please try and avoid brushing your tongue beforehand if you normally do so).

With the information gathered through these methods, they will formulate an individual treatment plan, specific to you, based on their diagnosis according to the classic syndrome patterns. They will then discuss with you the points they are going to needle, and explain why each point has been chosen.

You will be asked to remove only items of clothing required, and lie on the treatment couch - this is always a minimum, but it is advisable to wear loose clothing which allows easy access to the acupuncture points, especially on arms & legs, otherwise any exposed areas are covered with towels.

After the needles are removed and disposed of in surgical sharps containers, you will be able to replace your clothes and then go home, feeling happy, relaxed and more energised!
