SERVICES
Welcome to Wentworth Counselling Supervisory ServiceWentworth Counselling & Supervisory Service. Established Confidential & Supportive Private Counselling Practice.
Counselling Practice:I have been in continuous counselling practice since 1990. Through a combination of both working practice and academic learning, I have developed a style of counselling that is premised on a non-directive, humanistic approach. I feel my counselling practice has at its foundations the ‘core conditions' of empathy, genuineness and warmth. I work with an awareness of difference and diversity and offer a ‘gay affirmative' approach to my practice. Utilising skills and theory that could be described as integrative, my approach also draws on psychodynamic, systemic, and cognitive behavioural models.
Personal Philosophy:I feel my approach to both my counselling & counselling supervision reflects my own personal philosophy: that all individuals regardless of their ethnicity, gender, sexuality, or class should have access to life experiences that are empowering and free from prejudices. I believe that all individuals should be allowed to fulfil their potential according to their own beliefs. I strongly believe in the power of personal autonomy and that we are all responsible for our own actions.
Counselling Supervision:I am a qualified supervisor and have experience of providing counselling supervision for Supervisors, experienced Counsellors, for groups, for Counsellors in primary care, and for trainee Counsellors.
I am familiar with several supervision models, including process, developmental, and cyclic models. My own preference is a combination of both the process and developmental models of supervision. These I feel address all the issues relevant for both supervisor and counsellor throughout the various stages and processes of supervision, training and the supervisory relationship.
