The role of the counsellor or life coach is not to 'treat' people or try to 'heal' them, but to encourage their curiosity about their own beliefs and motivations. I offer clients an invitation to step outside their life story long enough to see that it is only a story, and, of course, to appreciate that those stories can be re-written. Together we will create a space in which new possibilities will emerge.

Counselling

Counselling is an interaction in which the counsellor offers another person the time, attention and respect necessary to explore, discover and clarify ways of living more resourcefully, and to his or her greater well-being. Counselling is a way of empowering the client to cope with their current situation and help them explore ways to improve their situation.

The aim of counselling is to enable clients to take responsibility for their own lives and emphasises choice. Counselling aims to make clients more decisive and better choosers for themselves and their situation.

Counselling is about helping you to make sense of your thoughts and feelings so that you can then make decisions about what to do to bring about change in your life.

Areas in which counselling can help include:
  • abuse (emotional, physical, sexual) - violence, bullying or neglect in many forms
  • anxiety
  • avoiding behaviour - tasks, people, places
  • bereavement
  • bereavement, grief and loss
  • depression
  • difficulty in making decisions
  • feeling "stuck" in lots of different ways
  • generally feeling "down"
  • help in making a big life decision
  • irritability
  • issues around food and weight control,
  • low confidence and self esteem
  • phobias
  • relationship difficulties - personal or work related
  • sleep disturbances
  • stress
  • suicidal thoughts
  • alcohol / substance abuse
  • traumatic memories

  • Counselling is open to all ages. My experience in working with individuals with developmental disabilities and individuals recovering from a mental illness makes me an invaluable resource to providers of care for these individuals seeking a counsellor for their clients.

    Life Coaching
In a world where many of us face complex life circumstances and decisions, the Life Coach is there to guide you, reward you, encourage you and can assist you to succeed in all that you do.

Life Coaching allows you to explore what it is you truly want in life and provides you with the tools, support and encouragement in order for you to achieve personal success. A life coach can help you see opportunities for improvement as well as practical ways forward, acknowledges your achievements and stays committed to you and your goals when you're ready to give up.

As in counselling, a Life Coach will listen to you in a non-judgemental way. They might offer suggestions about ways in which to move you forward in a particular area, but they will not tell you in a direct way what you should do - that has to come from within you the client

The life coach will use a variety of skills to create an environment where the individual can gain insight into their situation. This in turn leads to the client making the changes necessary to lead a more fulfilling life.

You would benefit from Life Coaching if you are:
    • stuck in a rut
    • no longer excited by your work/life and what you do
    • no longer being challenged
    • lack of direction
    • lacking in motivation to achieve what you want
