About Kathryn Glynn
Kathryn is a full member of the British Acupuncture Council, the UK's main regulatory body for the practice of acupuncture. All its members are professionally qualified, Kathryn gained her Post Graduate Diploma and Certificate to Practice Acupuncture following 4 years study and supervised clinical practice at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York.
Since qualifying Kathryn has successfully treated many different conditions. She has also chosen to specialise in the treatment of couples who are having fertility difficulties and are looking to natually improve their fertility or who have chosen to undertake IVF treatment with acupuncture support. She has successfully completed a number of post graduate training courses as follows:

- Integrated Acupuncture Seminar for Fertility
- Integrated Acupuncture Seminar for Obstetrics

Initial Consultation and Treatment
On your first visit you will be asked in detail about your general health, medical history and lifestyle. Your pulse and tongue will be examined and where appropriate any areas where pain is felt. This information is then used to determine a TCM diagnosis and formulate an individual treatment plan. This treatment plan will then discussed and agreed with you.
This session includes a first treatment and depending on the condition can last anywhere from 1 hour and 15 mins to 1 hour and 45 mins. It is essential that you have eaten and advisable that you wear something comfortable and loose fitting in order for you to be relaxed and comfortable.
Treatment
In all but the initial consultation session the treatment will start with a brief review of how you have felt and what improvements have been noticed since the previous treatment. This information is important to enable the current treatment to be formulated with the most up to date information.
At every treatment session all new techniques and point locations will be discussed with you first to ensure you are fully informed and comfortable with the proposals before we proceed.
As well as acupuncture the treatment session may also include acupressure massage, moxibustion, cupping or electro-acupuncture. These techniques will be explained should we need to use them and it is your right to decline any of these at any point in the treatment process.
Only sterile disposable acupuncture needles are used. There are very fine and there is usually only a slight sensation on their insertion. This sensation is hard to describe but patients have commented they felt a slight ache, tingling or like they have been gently flicked. The needles will be left in place for 20 minutes whilst you relax. Patients are amazed to find that they feel comfortable and relax very deeply. The whole treatment session takes 45 minutes.
