Until 2000, my only brush with complementary healthcare had been to visit a homeopath and osteopath, and to have acupuncture. I was then introduced to reflexology as a means of raising my energy levels having suffered post viral fatigue for some weeks. The effects were dramatic, quick, and incredibly energising. And I just loved having my feet massaged! During the third visit, I had one of those "light bulb" moments, when I realised that this was something that I just had to do. I told my husband excitedly about my decision, and my plan to train once I retired. My husband, bless him, said "why wait?" and within a few weeks I was in training, and qualified a year later. Things have never been the same since. Having entered the world of complementary healthcare, I became aware of so many different disciplines which worked on a holistic level, and I really came to value and respect the interconnection of mind, body, spirit, and emotions.
I felt drawn to Reiki, though knew little about it, so I enrolled to do Reiki Level 1 just to extend my knowledge and understanding. The experience was life-changing. Carrying out self-treatments enabled me to rid myself of so much "baggage" that I had been carrying for years, and started me on a journey of self discovery and spiritual awareness which has turned my world around and made life very sweet. I also saw very real results in the people whom I treated. Six months later I studied Reiki Level 2, and at the end of 2004 I finally became a Reiki Master.
I added Hopi ear candling to my qualifications, and lastly EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique). This is an exciting fairly modern therapy (though rooted in ancient Chinese meridian therapy), and in a short time I have seen very dramatic, speedy, and lasting changes in clients.
I carry out treatments at home where I have a treatment room in a secluded and tranquil garden setting. I can also do home visits where it is difficult for the client to visit me, and spend half a day a week at the Met Office in Exeter treating staff.
