Welcome to Rachel Heath Acupuncture
What is acupunture?
Acupucture is a holistic approach to managing illness and maintaining good health. It has been practised in China and other Eastern countries for thousands of years.
According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health depends on the body’s motivating energy- known as Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) – moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin.
Acupuncture diagnosis aims to identify any imbalance in the flow of Qi – this can be caused by anything from stress, anger or grief through to infections or trauma.
These imbalances are then treated using the insertion of fine needles into specific points along the body’s energy channels. This activates the body’s natural healing response and works to restore health and wellbeing.
About me
My name is Rachel Heath and I trained as an acupuncturist at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, where I gained a BSc (Hons).
I practise both Five Element Acupunture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
As a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) I follow a code of practice which lays down stringent standards of hygiene and sterilisation for needles and other equipment. UK members are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance and are bound by the Council’s code of ethics and practice.
