Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a tried and tested system of Medicine and has been used for thousands of years to restore, promote and maintain good health.
Good health is not just the absence of pain or disease. According to traditional Chinese philosophy, our health is dependent on the body’s motivating energy called Qi (pronounced chee) moving in a smooth and balanced way through a series of channels beneath the skin.
The flow of Qi can be disturbed by any number of factors including: emotional, nutritional, hereditary influences, infections and trauma.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) considers Acupuncture to be effective for a wide range of conditions, including:- Addiction
- Diabetes
- Migrane
- Arthritis
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea
- Asthma
- IBS
- Obesity
- Bronchitis
- Insomnia
- PMS
- High Blood Pressure
- Menopausal Symptoms
- Pain: Back, Knee, Neck, Shoulders etc
- Soft Tissue Injuries including Sport Injuries
- Stroke after-effects
- Trigeminal Neuralgia (facial nerve pain)
Research Studies also shows Acupuncture is beneficial for many other conditions.
Pre-Family & “Well Woman” Treatments
I often treat ladies for 3 to 6 months prior to conception to ensure both the “mum-to-be” and their new baby are as healthy as possible.
Facial Revitalisation
Many of us would like to look a few years younger but are not keen on going under the surgeon’s knife - Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture may be what you are looking for.
Sometime called Cosmetic Acupuncture, this virtually pain-free alternative to major surgery can give you a fresh faced radiance whilst reducing the signs of ageing. Additionally, by using a holistic approach, this program not only treats the face but aims to improve your underlying health, which in turn benefits your appearance.
Taught by one of the world leading exponents – Virginia Doran, Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture has over recently years attracted much media attention including the Channel 4 program, “Ten Years Younger”, many major US News networks and seen on shows such as “Sex and the City”. According to a number of news articles, this treatment is also the choice of many of the rich and famous.
This treatment is not however new – it dates back over 800 years to the Sun Dynasty when it was used by the Emperor’s wife and concubines to maintain their youthful appearance.
A recent research study found that out of 300 test subjects, over 90% showed significant improvements after one treatment program (12 treatments).
How does an Acupuncture Facelift work?
Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture follows the principles of Chinese Medicine and involves the skilful insertion of ultra fine needles into particular areas of the face, ears, neck, hands and body. The combination of points selected are matched to your specific requirements.
By inserting the needles into these areas – blood and energy flow improves. This energy or Qi (pronounced chee) regulates your body’s own healing processes and invigorates the facial areas.
What are the affects?
This remarkable treatment may reduce 5 to 15 years off the face, depending on lifestyle.
Fine lines may be entirely eliminated and deeper winkles reduced. Similarly bags under the eyes, cheek jowls & double chins are reduced with drooping eyelids lifted and puffiness smoothed away. Other results usually include; a brighter complexion, improved muscle tone & jaw-line definition, skin elasticity, tighter pores and better skin moisturising.
Following a request from some of my patients, I am happy to provide a free personal photographic record at various stages through the program. This is completely optional and the photos are yours to keep and will not be used by me in anyway.
How many treatments in the program?
An initial 1.5 hour consultation to:- fully explain the program
- take a detailed history & diagnosis
- ask as many questions as you like
- see & experience a few needles
- ensure you are happy & comfortable with the procedure.
Followed by a typical treatment program of 12 x 1.5 hour sessions spread over 8 consecutive weeks. Once you have completed the program, I recommend a “maintenance” session once every 2 months to prolong the results and protect your investment.
How soon before I see results?
Whilst some results will be seen after a few treatments, it is usually after the seventh treatment when the results become more obvious and lasting.
Additionally, whilst I will be focusing on the facial treatment, this program fully embraces the holistic principle of “inner health/outer beauty” and you will experience other benefits.
Can anyone have Facial Revitalisation?
Unfortunately not, certain existing medical conditions make this treatment inadvisable. These will be discussed before an appointment is made, as I may be able to use Acupuncture to help the condition to a point where you are able to commence the Facial Revitalisation Program.
