Exercise and keep fit at classes in the Portsmouth area.
Local Aerobics runs a series of exercise classes near Cosham in Portsmouth. Our aim is to provide good quality, community based exercise classes that are enjoyable and effective, and aimed at a wide range of needs and abilities. All exercises are adaptable to enable you to work at your own level.
The aerobics classes have been established in the area since 2003, but the class schedule has recently been expanded to include Legs, Bums and Tums, Toning and Pilates classses.
No joining fee, no membership fee, just fun, effective exercise classes for all abilities. Come along and give us a try. What have you got to lose?!
About Me - Marie Stopforth
I am a qualified Exercise to Music and Pilates instructor, and as such am registered with the Register of Exercise Professionals. I also have a 1st Class Honours Degree in Sports Science, and am currently writing my PhD thesis in Sport Psychology. I work full time as a senior lecturer at Solent University in Southampton, teaching sport psychology and exercise and health psychology on the Fitness and Personal Training and Health Promotion degree programmes. I also work part time as a tutor and assessor for Future Fit Training, delivering training courses to other fitness professionals and assessing exercise to music instructors.
Our Services Include:
Aerobics
A fun and energetic workout to music consisting of a 10 minute warm up, 30 minutes aerobics, 15 minutes body toning and 5 minutes stretch and relaxation. Suitable for all levels - hard and easy options always provided.
Pilates
Non-impact all over body exercises that increase flexibility, mobility and strength. Pilates improves posture and core stability and heightens physical and mental awareness. Exercises articulate the spine to ease tightness and back pain. Suitable for all age groups and fitness levels from ballet dancers to rugby players.
Legs, Bums & Tums
A 45 minute exercise to music class that focuses specifically on toning up the lower body and abdominal muscles. Incorporates both standing and floor work, and is suitable for all levels of fitness and exercises can be adapted accordingly. Can include optional resistance e.g. weights and resistance bands.
Toning
A 45 minute exercise class that strengthens and tones the entire body by challenging the major muscle groups. Weights are optional!
