Welcome to Debbie Winstanley
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy, in which the use of hypnosis constitutes the core of the treatment.
Hypnotherapy has a vast range of both clinical and non-clinical applications. It can be used to improve existing conditions, extinguish unwanted habits, learn new more appropriate behaviours, improve performance, or make positive changes in lifestyle.
Particular recognition of the value of hypnotherapy can now be seen in sports performance enhancement and smoking cessation.
Treatment
Your fIrst visit to a clinical hypnotherapist may last over an hour as a full case history will be taken, to allow the practitioner to get to know you and understand your situation.
The objective is to ensure that you are totally comfortable with the practitioner and to discuss a treatment plan, which provides an appropriate solution to your situation.
Some conditions can be treated in one session and many may only require two, or three sessions. The ultimate aim is to provide you with brief effective treatment, giving you greater control of your life.
You can expect to be placed in a relaxing hypnotic state on your fIrst session.
The Hypnotic Experience
Hypnosis is a simple state of mental relaxation, sometimes described as an altered state of awareness.
Everyone can be hypnotised - if they want to be. The fact that you want to make a change in your life and are seeking the help of a hypnotherapist, means that you will go easily in to trance.
Everyone is an individual, therefore each person's experience of trance may be different, but being in an hypnotic state feels very pleasant and extremely relaxing.
Similar states occur naturally when you are engrossed in a book, watching TV, or daydreaming.
Working with a hypnotherapist your unconscious mind is more open to beneficial suggestions, which help you to make positive changes in your life.
Although very relaxed, you will always be fully aware and in control of your responses throughout the session.
Hypnosis is completely natural, so the only side effects experienced are the pleasant byproducts of improved well-being. These may include feeling more confident, having a more positive outlook, sleeping better and having a greater degree of control in some aspect your life.
You will be able to drive, or continue your working day immediately following a hypnotherapy session.
