About the therapist
Theresa Szewczuk is fully qualified in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council ( MBAcC ). She studied for 3 years at the University of Westminster and continues to do personal and professional development. She also works as a Massage Therapist for Como Shambhala Urban Escape at the Metropolitan Hotel.
In addition to her private practice, Theresa taught at the University of Westminster as an assistant clinical supervisor for two years and she has volunteered at the NHS run Gateway Clinic in Lambeth Hospital in South West London for 3 years working with HIV patients, addictions, Hepatitis and chronic pain. Currently she is studying her masters in Chinese Herbal Medicine at the University of Westminster.
She is also running an affordable Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture clinic in the Colombo Centre in Waterloo.
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture refers to the insertion of fine sterilised disposable needles into specific points located along the meridians or channel pathways of the body for disease prevention, therapy or maintenance of health. Acupuncture has been used for over 2000 years in Chinese Medical practise. There are other techniques used in conjunction with acupuncture which include herbs, massage, cupping, moxibustion, electro acupuncture, dietary therapy and health advice.
