However wonderful modern medecine is,it is our personal responsibility to maximise and maintain our own health as far as possible. We tend to take good health for granted, and do not listen to what our bodies are telling us until things go really wrong.
After a long career in nursing, I have come to the conclusion that there is so much that we can do to help ourselves keep well.
Our bodies do have a certain ability to heal ourselves, and this can be encouraged by a nudge from the gentle, non invasive therapies such as Reflexology, and Reiki.
Reflexology is an ancient form of healing which is based on the fact that there are reflex points on the feet which link up to all parts and functions of the body. A gentle pressure is applied to all these areas, which restores harmony to body, mind, and spirit.
Some benefits of Reflexology:
- Reduces stress, and promotes a feeling of well being.
- Reduces imflamation.
- Reduces pain.
- Removes toxins from the body.
- Helps maintain good health.
A Reflexology treatment lasts about an hour.
The client lies on my treatment couch, fully clothed except for shoes and socks, and should feel very relaxed following their treatment.
Reiki is also an ancient form of healing, which is gentle, non invasive, and yet very powerful. Rei -Ki can be described as Universal life force energy, or God directed life force energy. It is a holistic system for balancing , harmonising, and healing. Reiki tranfers additional energy to the recipient, which flows to wherever it is needed . The Reiki healer is a channel for the energy, not the source of the healing. This wonderfull therapy reaches the cause of the dis- ease,and not just the symptoms.
It stimulates our own healing process, is exstemely relaxing, and promotes a feeling of deep peace.
The client lies fully clothed, on atreatment couch, or chair, whilst the practitioner gently places her hands on, or above the energy chakras.
The duration of the treatment is about one hour.
