Jennifer Minney was first published nationally at age seventeen. She has had short stories, articles and poems published in Christian and secular magazines in Britain and the US. She studied English as her minor subject at the University of Maryland, European Division, and her writing ability won her several scholarships.
Jennifer has a BA in Psychology and graduated Summa cum Laude. As the top graduate in Europe she was the winner of the Colonel Bentley Award. She also has a Bible College Diploma, with Distinction, and she is a State Registered Nurse and State Certified Midwife.
Jennifer, who is accredited (Level 3) by the Association of Christian Counsellors, trained as a counsellor with the US military forces whilst living in Germany, and spent over ten years counselling military personnel and their dependants. After returning to Britain in 1994, she began working as a GP-based counsellor for the National Health Service in Somerset, a position she held until September 2003, when she resigned in order to focus on her Christian-based private practice, Cariad Counselling Services, which has now been running for over nine years.
UCB Christian Radio has broadcast a seventeen-week series of interviews with Jennifer about her books on depression, stress, fear and grief. She has also been interviewed by BBC Radio Bristol. In addition, she leads regular seminars in Yeovil on counselling-related topics, has spoken in churches of various denominations and has led clergy training days. Recently, the title poem from her book Song of Creation was selected and broadcast as Poem of the Week by UCB.
