SERVICES

Welcome to Natural Approach

Reflexology is a holistic and complementary therapy applied to the feet and dates back to ancient ages from Egypt, China and India. As a holistic therapist I concentrate on treating the cause ie. mild depression thereby alleviating the symptom presenting as insomnia. By discovering the root or cause of a symptom a treatment plan can allow permanent healing to take place. A symptom can present in many ways either in an emotional way or in a physical sense.

Reflexology is a science based on the premise that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all glands, organs, tissues and systems of the body. The physical act of applying a gentle pressure using thumb, finger and hand techniques to these reflex areas results in the reduction of stress which promotes physiological changes in the body.

How Can Reflexology Help Me?

Reflexology can help restore and maintain the body’s own equilibrium encouraging the body to work naturally and efficiently, promoting your health and well- being.

Reflexology can be effective for any of the following:-
  • Infertility
  • Migraine
  • Stress/anxiety
  • Sleep disorders
  • Digestive disorders
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Weight Loss

What happens when I go for treatment?

On the 1st visit the practitioner will have a preliminary talk and take your full medical history and lifestyle details. The reflexologist will then use their hands as described above to apply pressure to the feet or hands, the application and effects of the therapy are unique to each person.

A professionally trained reflexologist can detect subtle changes in specific reflex points on the feet, and by working on these specific points may affect the corresponding organ or system of the body. A reflexologist does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.

A treatment usually lasts about 1 hour but the initial visit will take an extra 15 mins to assess feet and take full medical and lifestyle history. A course of treatment may be recommended depending on your body’s needs and imbalances found. Following reflexology treatment you can feel after-effects such as any of the following:-
  • Relaxed/calm
  • Rejuvenated
  • Lethargic/tired
  • Nauseous or tearful/emotional.

From a practitioner's perspective I would regard the therapy as effective if bringing about these changes, which is a positive step towards equilibrium. These reactions to treatment can be vital information for the practitioner to devise a relevant treatment plan to achieve optimum health and well-being. An individual’s response treatment is a vital indication as to how to address any follow-up sessions to aid with the healing of the body.

QUALIFICATION DETAILS

About Your Practitioner - Heather Burley I come from an equestrian family and background and I have enjoyed a fantastic career working with horses until recently. Following an injury sustained while riding, I received a reflexology treatment which was to shape the future of my working life. The treatment was very effective in addressing some physical and mental issues (which hadn’t responded to other therapies), and this led me to study and train as an AOR approved Reflexologist during 2007. I trained with the extremely knowledgable and accomplished complementary therapist David Wayte of Jubilee College who runs a succesful spa with his wife Marie nr Nottingham. David has been made a member of the Royal Society of Medicine in London for his contribution to reflexology.
