Something to Feel Good about.
SERVICES
Welcome to Holly Hemmings Herbalist
I run a busy herbal medicine practice in the convenient location of Fore Street in Exeter city centre. At this herbal medicine practice you are able to drop in and ask a medically trained herbalist about your health queries and buy simple over-the-counter remedies, however most of the people who I see decide to book a proper consultation. This enables a full picture of each person's health to come to light. A medical herbalist is interested in finding the root of a health problem and it is that root to which the treatment strategy is focused. After an initial consultation patients often say to me that they have really enjoyed and benefitted from having discussed their health in full a highly trained medical herbalist - this is even before they have begun to enjoy the benefits of the carefully selected medicinal plants in the herbal prescription.
To give you an idea of what it is like to consult Holly Hemmings Herbalist here are a couple of things that patients have said to me in the past: -
"I feel that I am really healing properly, rather than just covering up the syptoms like I used to."
"I love having this support, having someone who is helping me to get well."
About my training and qualifications: -
I have completed a BSc in herbal medicine which is a course approved by the National Institute of Medical Herbalists. The degree course lasted three years and during this time I studied a range of topics including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, herbal pharmacy, clinical examination, diagnosis, nutrition, botany, counselling, research, herbal therapeutics, humoral theory and Goethean science and 500 hours of clinical training at the Preston Clinic of Herbal Medicine.
I have been trained in both holistic medicine and biomedical sciences and have diagnostic training comparable to that of mainstream doctors. In order to complete my degree course I had to satisfy examiners, including a Medical Doctor, that I am able to correctly diagnose, physically examine and safely prescribe herbal medicines for patients with a wide range of diseases. It is important to note that I have also been trained to know when to refer patients to another practitioner or to their GP.
The safest way to use herbs is to consult a Professional Medical Herbalist who is trained to know about contra-indications and drug-herb interactions.
I was born and raised in Devon and I love my work as a Medical Herbalist in Exeter city centre.
Herbal medicine is something to Feel Good about!
Warm wishes,
Holly Hemmings Herbalist
