SERVICES
Welcome to The Roby
The Roby was founded in 1985; we exist to improve mental health, to promote general well-being and to encourage social inclusion in Longsight and surrounding areas in Manchester. We deliver a range of person-centred services, act as a resource for a variety of community groups, campaign on issues relevant to our core approach, offer opportunities for volunteering and work in partnership with other agencies.
The Roby continues to raise the standard of the innovative services it offers, providing socially inclusive spaces, and promoting independence as key to the improvement of personal well-being.
The Roby can help you access further services and information on local services i.e. GPs, community mental health teams and counselling. We are also able to supply resource materials on education groups, employment schemes, voluntary work, social services, drug and alcohol services, support groups and local community facilities.
About Us
The Roby works to support people who experience mental distress and other forms of social exclusion. We provide direct services, including weekly therapeutic groups and one-to-one counselling and support, and actively campaign to influence policy and improve services in Manchester.
The Roby aims to deliver services which are easy to access whilst remaining person-centred in approach. We are committed to user involvement believing people with mental health problems should have the same opportunities available to them as others; we are interested in providing the support and strategies to enable this. By providing empowerment through information and practical support, we believe our service users can lead fuller and more productive lives.
The Roby services are designed to promote best practice and to be sensitive to the local needs. In all our work, we are committed to the promotion of equality, independence, dignity, respect and access to care and support for all.
