As human beings, we are designed to receive touch. It has been documented that babies who are deprived of touch will fail to grow. Healthy, safe, touch is as essential to our wellbeing as food, air and water. Psychologists in the US have even coined a term "skin hunger" to describe what happens when our skin, the largest organ in the body, is deprived of touch. Responses to a lack of touch can include anxiety, depression, over-eating and irritability. |
Reiki (meaning "universal life force energy" in Japanese) is done with you fully clothed and lying down. The practitioner lays hands both on and off the body. It is a very still, relaxing and non-invasive therapy. It helps the body to find its own equilibrium and draw whatever it needs from the treatment. Reiki works on a subtle, energetic level. As one client described it: "It felt like my soul left my body". £35 per hour.
Seated Massage works on the upper body: shoulders, neck, head, arms, hands and the upper back - the parts of you that will ache and get stiff if you spend too much time at a desk, on a computer or doing any kind of repetitive work with your upper body. Treatments can last 10, 15 or 20 minutes and are done with you fully clothed and sitting down. This can easily be done in workplaces. Please contact me for rates.
Holistic and therapeutic massage treatments take place with you lying down and undressed to your level of comfort. Your modesty will be respected at all times. Skin nourishing oils, such as sweet almond oil, are used to give the massage. The treatment works on the muscles, the circulatory system and the nervous system. £40 per hour.
Aromatherapy Massage >is done with essential oils. These oils derived from plants, flowers, fruits, herbs and spices, have different health and emotional benefits. The selection of oils is chosen with you and your unique needs on the day of the massage in mind. Think of it as a personalised prescription. Apart from the wonderful smell, the oils enter the bloodstream, through the skin, and work powerfully inside the body. £45 per hour.
Hot Stone Massage - the mother of all treatments and a spa favourite!! The heat from smooth, river rocks from New Mexico melts your muscles and penetrates to your very core. Nurturing, warming and a great tonic for damp, chilly London days. Hot stone massage involves a full-body massage with the warm stones giving an extra dimension to the treatment. £60 for 70 minutes
