Welcome to Teresa Hadland
What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a form of physical therapy, working on all levels of mind and body, which originated in Japan and has developed worldwide over the last 40 years.
It can achieve the same benefits as osteopathy and chiropractic by correcting distortions or weakness in the skeletal structure that affect good posture and movement.
Like physiotherapy it incorporates muscle stretches and joint manipulations; to free and strengthen the muscular body, promoting healing, improving movement and boosting core support.
And with its roots in Oriental Medicine it works on the network of energy channels (meridians) which are also fundamental to acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. This network encourages the body’s capacity for self-organisation so that it can re-establish its own equilibrium.
