SERVICES
Welcome to Bedford Centre
The Bedford Counselling Centre, Bates House, is one of five Centres grouped in the Herts & Beds Pastoral Foundation. The Foundation is a registered charity, charity number 1014988. The main aim of the Foundation is to provide a confidential counselling service for all members of the local community, particularly for those for whom the normal range of counselling fees would not be affordable. The Centre also offers training in psychodynamic counselling from Introductory and Foundation courses through to Diploma level which is validated by the University of Hertfordshire. The Foundation offers training to Advanced Diploma level at it's Centre in St Albans.
In recent years, the Centre has more then doubled the number of counselling sessions it undertakes, which demonstrates the need for the service. The Centre also acts as a provider of counselling under contract to an NHS Trust and to public companies, this activity helps to support its charitable function and to provide counselling to the community.
What is counselling?
At some time in our lives most of us face a major crisis. Sometimes it is hard to talk to those closest to us and we feel isolated and alone. Counselling offers an opportunity to explore and understand the experiences that have shaped our lives, and discover ways of living more resourcefully. It can help people improve their relationships, both personal and work related.
The kind of problems that might people bring are many and varied. They might include :- relationship problems, anxiety, depression, loss, life changes, stress, anger, abuse of problems with self-esteem.
Where do I begin?
At an initial appointment an experienced counsellor will Listen to your concerns to establish whether the counselling We offer would be helpful to you. If so you will be offered regular weekly 50 minute sessions with a counsellor as soon as a space becomes available. You can continue with your counselling for as long as you feel you need to.
