About Me
Initially trained as a carpet weaver, then gained experience in the building industry, before developing a career in catering, peppered with intense studies in art, design & craft. Working from grass roots, gaining a reputation as a very competent, creative chef. Going on to work for a national company as a general manager responsible for concept development for three city centre outlets.
In the late eighties my career in catering, along with the breakup of my marriage, had brought me to physical, emotional and mental burn-out. Completely drained, a heavy smoker, grossly under weight with chronic digestive problems. I turned to yoga and sister science ayurveda to cope more effectively with my life style crisis, along with earnest study of psychology and astrology, to really get to know myself.
I qualified as a yoga teacher in 1996 just prior to fulfilling my life long ambition of gaining a place as a mature student at Glasgow School of Art on artistic merit. My artwork at GSA was and continues to be concerned with the philosophy of being and therapeutics of creativity.
Much of my artworks and studies for my BA Hons Degree in Fine Art (achieved in 2001), centered around concepts of ‘nourishment’ exploring food as art, kitchen, cooking and eating in the vein of artists such as Gordon Matta Clark, Rirkrit Tiravinija, Stuart Brisley, Judy Chicago. Empathically sharing the sociological and educational values of Joseph Beuys famous for his championing of the healing potential of art and the power of a universal human creativity.
Since graduating I have continued to deepen my study and research of Ayurveda & Yoga. Making several trips to India, the home of the twin sciences, where I qualified as an Ayurveda Therapist at an award winning Ayurveda Clinic & Research Centre in Jaipur. I now run a bespoke wellbeing practice from my home and studio in South Ayrshire, where I fuse my interests in Food, Art and Wellbeing.
Consultation
Ayurveda is not primarily concerned with diagnosing the symptoms of disorder rather it focuses on balancing the cause of the symptoms. Many people can suffer from the same symptoms but the cause will differ according to your constitution or blend of DOSHAS. An initial consultation helps to identify your natural physiological and psychological constitution. Before going on to indentify any imbalances and establish the root cause. Much of Ayurvedic treatment is a matter of re-education and learning to live in harmony with your constitutional type. The best insurance against dis-ease and illness is to invest in self-awareness and to take responsibility for your natural equilibrium. By doing so, you will become adept at managing your life and achieving optimum wellbeing.
To address imbalance Ayurveda uses a system know as PANCHAKARMA or five actions to cleanse and rejuvenate body/mind consciousness. The system is renowned for bespoke therapies that maintain or restore the balance of your natural constitution. Treatments are tailored to your individual needs and can be anything from about an hour to a full detoxification program to purify and rejuvenate you. Including cleansing treatments, massage, steam therapy, dietary information, herbal recommendations, behavioural and lifestyle advice, along with yoga exercise, breathing techniques and meditation.

"I'd like to thank you for all you have done. I have found your teaching extremely beneficial and am now free of the physical pain which brought me back to yoga. But I have also learned a lot more which I know will stay with me for a long time to come."
