I trained with and and am registered with Yoga Scotland, the governing body for yoga in Scotland. I also have the British Wheel of Yoga's Yoga for Children certificate and the Satyananda Yoga UK certificate in Yoga Nidra.
I now teach in the Satyananda yoga style and will be taking the Satyananda Yoga UK's one year post graduate Integration Course starting this May, to qualify fully as a Satyanada yoga teacher.
I qualified in 2002 and offer basic and intermediate level yoga classes and one to one tuition on request.

About Yoga
Many people come to yoga because they feel it will help them to cope with stress, or perhaps to ease back or joint pain or general stiffness. But there is often also a desire for a more fulfilled life. With time, commitment and effort, yoga can meet all these goals – and can promote flexibility, release tension, and increase stamina and strength.
About 2,000 years ago the great Indian sage Patanjali described yoga as a way of controlling the activities of the mind so that we can resist stress. Yoga practices, such as stretching, and excising, deep breathing, meditation and visualisation prevent the suffering caused by stress. They can also help poor postures, and the rigidity that can develop through misuse of the body, ageing or physical disabilities.
The original yoga masters evolved an approach to life that was calm, controlled and allowed them to cultivate stillness, together with a moral and ethical code of behaviour that included compassion, service and moderation.
Most people in the West nowadays practice yoga through the asanas (or postures), breathing and relaxation. A few go further into the practice. The Saturday workshops are for those who wish to go further in the more subtle or spiritual practices.
The general classes include asanas, breathing techniques, yoga nidra (deep relaxation) and concentration. It will be suitable for beginners, and those who have attended classes before.
Information
Clothing: please wear comfortable, unrestricted clothing.
Food : have nothing to eat in the two hours before class – it can be very uncomfortable if you do!
Bring a yoga mat (or you can buy one from me), a piece of rubber carpet underlay or rug to lie on, and a blanket as an additional cover for relaxation .
Try to be punctual, as we will start with relaxation . If you arrive late, please come in quietly and take a few moments to relax, lying on your back before joining in.
I have handouts for basic home practice. Please ask if you want one. A few minutes practice daily can make an enormous difference to your progress. Rigid muscles can start to stretch in as little as a week of daily practice. I also have information on recommended practice CDs.
If you are unable to attend your regular class on occasion, you may come to any of my other classes – see back cover for details.

General advice
Remember yoga is for you. You are not in competition with anybody – not even yourself.
Don’t worry about how ‘ good’ or ‘bad’ you are compared to others in the class. That is not what yoga is about. You should work at the point where your body is at this moment. It’s the process that is important, not the result. The effects are the same.
Practice the postures at a slow, concentrated pace.
Listen to your body. Move smoothly as you release and stretch. Focus on what is happening inside you.
Use the breath to help your movement. By learning breathing technique , we can direct energy to different parts of the body and help to release blockages.
