Gestalt Psychotherapy and Counselling
SERVICES
Welcome to Cate Talbot - Gestalt Psychotherapy and Counselling
Getting started in therapy can be one of the hardest decisions, yet by making the positive step towards growth, recovery and self-empowerment we can discover so many aspects of our life that we may have otherwise not experienced.
I recognise the courage it takes to make these changes and I am here to help support you on your journey. You can expect to be heard respectfully and non-judgementally in a safe and confidential setting.
The first session, a mutual assessment, would be an opportunity for us to explore what issues you may like to bring to therapy and whether we feel we would like to work together.
Sessions are 50 minutes in length, usually weekly to start, and all consultations are payable. All missed sessions are also payable if not cancelled outside of a 48 hour notice period.
My counselling practice is based in at The Well Being Centre, Splash Lane, Wyton, Cambridgeshire, on the outskirts of St. Ives and Huntingdon, and within easy reach of Cambridge and Peterborough.
About Me
I have undertaken over 10 years of personal development, which I consider to be an essential part of my on-going training and commitment to this profession.
As qualifications I hold:- FDAP (Federation for Drug and Alcohol Professionals) Accreditation, 2009
- BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Accreditation as a counsellor / psychotherapist, 2006
- UKRC Registered Independent Counsellor, 2006
- a Post Graduate Diploma in Gestalt Psychotherapy from The Gestalt Centre, London
- a Diploma in Gestalt Counselling from The Gestalt Centre, London
- a Certificate in Counselling Communication from the Australian College of Applied Psychology
- an introduction to Psychosexual Counselling from Huntingdon Regional College, 2006
Before deciding to focus solely on psychotherapy and counselling I have worked in international banking and finance around the globe in places such as France, Singapore and Australia. In addition to counselling and psychotherapy, I have an interest in Addictions, Family Constellation work, and Psychosexual issues.
I have worked in Primary Care for the NHS (GP counselling), a specialist agency for people with alcohol issues, and in a drug addiction/ harm-reduction centre. In addition, I have worked previously in conjunction with the Probation Service and I have worked for Huntingdon Regional College as college counsellor for students and staff.
Alongside my private individual practice, I work with RAPt (HMP Prison Service) running a support group as part of my private practice for individuals, couples and groups, and I work for a national drugs and alcohol charity - Addaction - in both Huntingdon and St Neots.
