Welcome to Power of Pilates
Are you are looking for a stronger back, a flatter stomach, to target a specific injury, or simply to improve your overall body shape and flexibility – then Power of Pilates can help.
Regular Pilates classes will result in a longer, leaner, more flexible body and focuses on a mind / body connection to increase your body awareness. Through a series of strength and mobility exercises, Pilates builds strength from within, initiating every movement through engaging your deep abdominals and stabilising your torso. The exercises are progressive and safe, concentrating on slow, controlled, flowing movements.

The studio contains quality Pilates equipment from Balanced Body, who are renowned for being leaders in the industry. It is the first studio in the area to offer affordable mat and equipment classes as well as personal training.
Who is Pilates for?
Pilates is for everyone! Office workers, professional sports people, first time exercisers, those looking to enhance general fitness or those wanting to help prevent injury or rehabilitation after an accident or injury.
Pilates is suitable for men and women of all ages and levels of fitness, the emphasis being on individual progress. Here at Power of Pilates, we ensure a limited number of clients are in the class to allow for individual attention – this is not a mass produced production line, we understand that each body is different and the session is tailored to take each person into consideration.
Why Pilates?
Repetitive movements such as a sedentary lifestyle, sustained positions, repetitive movements, stress, illness and injuries can cause us to favour one group of muscles over others. This creates imbalances in our movement and body structure. This faulty movement pattern can feel normal as we have been following the pattern over a long period of time, often resulting in joints being held out of alignment. Pilates is designed to ease and correct these imbalances by re-establishing correct muscle recruitment which will restore good posture. This is achieved by identifying which muscles are weak, strong, short, long etc. and then correcting the muscle imbalances by stretching and relaxing tight, short muscles and then strengthening weak, long ones. Pilates can correct poor posture and misalignment and re-educate the body to prevent previous injuries recurring.
Personal Training
Personal training is by far the best way to start doing Pilates. A one to one session offers you a postural assessment and a program designed to your requirements, allowing you to focus on specific areas. A one to one allows us to observe you in detail whilst you are performing the exercises, enabling you to perfect your technique and progress that much quicker.
If you are doing Pilates through advice form your osteopath, physio or chiropractor, we work closely with them to ensure that you are getting the best possible care. Pilates personal training can keep you motivated with challenging sessions to improve your strength, flexibility, balance, co-ordination and mobility. The sessions can be set at times that suit you and are held at our studio in Lower Earley. Home visits can be arranged for a small extra charge to cover time and mileage.
Some clients prefer to stay with one to one sessions but there is the more affordable option of moving to group classes once you have mastered the technique.
