Welcome to Yoga For Life
About Beverley
I have been practicing yoga for over twenty years and teaching for the past five years. I qualified with Yoga Alliance and did my teacher training in my daughter's renowned studio in Dublin (info@the-elbowroom.com). I also teach at LA Fitness (members only) and I am a qualified counsellor.
My approach to yoga is gentle on the body yet can be as demanding as you want it to be. You will find a gradual sustained change in your breathing, posture and mobility Building a connection between body, mind, spirit and encouragment to work within limits of your own body.
The journey to my own yoga practice has been to better health, improved strength, flexibility and a calmer more peaceful existence. It is my wish to share this experience with you what ever your age and ability. I teach as I would like to be taught - with patience, kindness, optimism and encouragment to trust in one's self.

Increased flexibility and strength can prevent/help the causes of some back pain. Many people who suffer from back pain spend a lot of time sitting at a computer or driving a car. That can cause tightness and spinal compression, which you can begin to address with yoga. Yoga also improves your alignment, which helps to prevent many other types of pain.
Regular practice of yoga can help such diverse ailments such as diabetes, blood pressure, arthritis and asthma.
Pranayama - The Breath
Breath, life energy are intrinsically connected and yogis have a single word for all three; Pranayama, where the breath is controlled, increases vitality and mental focus and expands consciousnss. The breath acts as a bridge to our nervous system and by exploring pranayama practices we can observe how deeply it is connected to the mind. Just as our breathing alters depending on our mood, our psychological state can be altered by changes in our breath. Conscious breathing brings oxygen and energy to the cells and enhances all cellular processes. It is a fantastic source of energy. It is simple; when we breath better, we feel better.
Typical Class
A typical class consists of a gentle warm up, connecting the breath (pranayama) with mind body and spirit. The class then moves on to Hatha yoga asanas (postures) to help tone, strengthen and increase flexibility. Incorparating a flowing movement of forward bends, inversions and twists to stretch the spine.
The class winds down with a deep relaxation to sooth and balance the nervous system, offering the body a rest from physical activity.
Relaxation is essential to store and ground energy created during the class leaving you feeling rejuvenated and revitalized.
