Hello and Welcome...
I began learning yoga from a book. I was working as a staff nurse at the time on a busy medical unit and felt the need for some kind of practice that would help me relax and keep me fit and grounded in a stressfull lifestyle. I soon realised that a book wouldn't suffice or give me the attention of an experienced teacher so I began classes.
On practice
I believe the practice of yoga has many benefits and is accessible to all ages and levels of strength and flexibility. It can also be a life changing exploration of self. As most people identify the self in some way with their physical being, yoga often begins with the body. Yoga postures (asana) bring strength, balance, flexibility, stability and realignment to the body. Gradually with a committed yoga practice breath, body and mind become integrated. As this occurs changes happen on many different levels both internally and externally.
