Welcome to
Affordable Acupuncture UK
I have been practising Traditional Five Element Acupuncture since 2001, I am licensed. fully insured and registered with the British Acupuncture Council. www.acupuncture.org.uk
Our Treatments
Treatment consists of a full body treatment by first balancing the energy lines (meridians), before treating any individual problem.
I have found this to have an effective result for patients in a quite a short period of time.
I charge £25 a treatment, patients on arrival of their first treatment complete a consultation sheet - which is provided at the practice - this reduces my booking times normally 35-45 minutes.
Patients are also provided with a consultation sheet to take home to complete on a regular basis and bring with them at every visit.
This provides a saving for the patient in the sense they are not paying me to do a full consultation and provides me with detailed events of the effect of treatment inbetween visits.
Not only do patients appreciate this saving but they also feel more involved in the improvement of their own health and well being. This is two fold as it helps me with my treatment protocol for the individual in the long term.
I also provide Sliding Fire Cupping a form of deep tissue massage, this can be very effective for the back, shoulders and neck whether it is from injury, or just the general stresses and strains of life both at work and home. Patients who have this treatment do comment on how relaxing they find it and thoroughly enjoy their monthly massage.
I do have special offers on my website for new patients and also offer specials for existing patients at the practice so everyone gets a good deal, go check out my website for details of opening times, to contact me and monthly offers.

Acupuncture Treatment
WHO COMES FOR ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENT?
The variety is wide, ranging from children to the elderly. A lot of people come as a first choice, others can find it extremely beneficial where other forms of treatment have been unsuccessful. It seems people are increasingly becoming aware of the need to take responsibility for their own health and are taking measures to maintain their well-being.
Due to the deterio-ration of the balance of energy always proceeding the appearance of a symp-tom, Traditional Acupuncture can be used as a Preventative treatment aim-ing to maintain health at all levels. As Traditional Acupuncture affects the whole person, many seek help for phys-ical problems, general tiredness, migraine, sciatica, menopause and many more but many are now finding that it is beneficial for many stress-related disorders and the effects of mental and emotional conflicts in their lives.
It has the potential of helping with a wide range of different health problems. Some conditions may require western medical treatments and should be the first choice but Traditional Acupuncture can be used in conjunction with this without interfering with the effects of these treatments. Advise will be given in these cases.
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
Initial examinations are very important as it takes into account your medical background, family history, lifestyle, how you function (eg. sleep, appetite) and your present condition. This is essential information to determine the cause of the problem and how individual treatment is assessed.
The vital energy is distributed through twelve main energy pathways, each associated to an organ or func-tion. The PULSE located at the wrist relates to each of these twelve path-ways and gives information to the acupuncturist about the qualities of energy, which can detect imbalances. This combined with the nature of the symptom, the facial colour, odour, sound quality of the voice, taste, climate preferences and general emo-tional condition are all areas of assessment.
Treatment is through the use of very fine needles inserted into specific points that lie on the energy pathways to achieve balance. A Chinese herb called – MOXA – is sometimes used to give warmth to a point on its own or combined with acupuncture needles.
Requests may be made regarding diet, exercise and lifestyle in order to help treatment. This will depend on circumstances and response to treatment.
BEFORE AND AFTER TREATMENT
It is suggested only a light meal be consumed up to 2 hours before or after treatment. Alcohol can have a negative effect on treat-ment it is suggested that non be consumed 8 hours before and 24 hours after treatment, this will help to maximise the effects of treatment. Allow yourself to be relaxed when arriving and take things easy for around 2 hours after treatment again this will maximise the effects of treatment.
RESPONSES TO TREATMENT
Each individual is unique, there-fore responses can vary. Initial improvements in the overall state of health is usually followed by improvement of the main complaint. Although, some may notice a marked improvement in the main complaint immediately. Some may feel re-vitalised immedi-ately, while in others it maybe more subtle. The length and time of the condition is very important in assessing the actual speed of improvement.
TRADITIONAL ACUPUNCTURE
A natural healing art TRADITIONAL ACUPUNCTURE is a natural treatment that enables the body, mind and emotions to heal and work in harmony, as far as is naturally allowed. Chinese medicine see’s any illness or symptom, whether physical, mental or emotional as an imbalance of the person’s natural life force, known as energy or Qi (pronounced chi).
When distress signals are sent out, which can be in any form of a symptom, it is a sign that there is an imbal-ance of Qi. This needs to be re-balanced to restore health. This is the principle of Traditional Acupuncture, which is important as it means underlying causes of a disease are being dealt with, rather than merely being swept under the carpet, only re-appearing in the future.
Traditional Acupuncture deals with the condition of the patient by restoring the overall balance of energy and may help the person to feel better in a general way. This can help to promote and improve their general quality of life.
ACUPUNCTURE TO HELP WITH SMOKING
Treatments are provided specifically for this but it has to be remembered that Traditional Acupuncture treats the body as a whole. A checkup may be necessary as these conditions are regarded as symptoms of an overall health problem and treated accordingly. Therefore acupuncture treatment for this condition may have to be committed to and an improvement of overall health as the goal.
