Services
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy involves the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions including back and neck pain, other joint injury, pain and problems relating to the movement of the body. Because of their holistic approach to injuries, Physiotherapists are experts in treating sports injuries.
As well as traditional forms of Physiotherapy such as mobilisation, massage, soft tissue techniques and custom-designed exercises, Physiotherapists are skilled in the use of manipulation. In addition, we may use acupuncture and the latest technologies to bring about pain relief, repair injured muscles and other soft tissues and restore movement. Physiotherapists recognise the need for early intervention and treatment, so reducing the recovery time and, in many cases, reducing time lost at work.
Massage
Massage can be used to compliment other Physiotherapy treatments and can help in relaxation and stress relief.
It can be a useful treatment before or after a sports event e.g. long distance running, soccer or rugby matches. We offer Swedish massage and Sports massage, amongst other massage techniques.
Podiatry
We have a registered Podiatrist who works with the Clinic who is able to assess and treat biomechanical lower limb problems.
These would develop due to sports or normal daily living. Correction devices or orthotics, made by the Podiatrist, will resolve biomechanical anomalies enabling you to return to your activities of daily living, recreational activity or sport.

Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy
Who? Nicki Cook, Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
Background: Nursing, Midwifery, Occupational Health, Health Visitor (RGN, RM, RHV, Postgrad Dip Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy)
What is CBT? CBT is a psychiatric approach based on scientific principles and which research has show to be effective for a wide range of problems. CBT is class as a ‘brief intervention therapy’ lasting 8-20 sessions, depending on severity of problems.
In CBT - we develop individual shared understanding of client’s problems
- we identify how those problems affect client’s thoughts, feelings, emotions and daily functioning/behaviour
- we discover cycles and patterns of functioning and how we may change the style and perspective in order to function in a healthier way
- we will ask the client to take notice of the way they are functioning and may do home therapy between sessions eg keeping a diary
- initial assessment of clients’ problems is essential, therapy sessions are weekly, lasting one hour and may be less frequent as the client improves.
What sort of problems can CBT help with?- Anxiety
- Panic attacks
- Phobias (eg agrophobia, social/needle)
- Depression
- Obsessive compulsive disorder
- Post-traumatic stress
- Chronic pain/ill health
- Anger
- Maternal – ante-natal/post-natal/anxiety/depression

AKA PR.
“Having lower back issues I was interested in a Pilates class that was physiotherapy focused. I was delighted to learn that Airedale Physiotherapy Clinic had such a class and that it was a small class. Sue made me feel very welcome despite being the only guy there. It was a relaxing session and just what I needed after sitting on trains for 6 hours. I soon learnt the techniques and am looking forward to my next class and using Pliates as my daily exercise. Thanks Sue and David. Zip up!”
