About GilbertHello, I'm Gilbert Alaskadi.
I was born in a little village in southern Chad (Africa), wasn't lucky to live full life in my country as a civil war broke out in 1979.
I took refuge in Cameroon for 3 months before settling in Nigeria, where I started weight training in 1983 in my living room.
I left Nigeria in 1984 to visit my country, but could not stay due to tribal war, so exodus to neighbour Cameroon again in January 1985, where I settled there. I was lucky to meet Mr Paul Pere, a French national who had a set of weights in his garage. He was himself a former French weightlifting champion and winner of French Equatorial Africa.
Real weight training started there. Mr Pere took me to France in 1987 to take care of him as he's having a hip replacement. An opportunity to train for the 1st time in a modern gym in Angers, west of France.
Mr Roger Prevost, owner of Silhouette 2000 gym & former France senior champion saw my potential and convince me to enter the 1st timer's show in Larochelle, a competition I won without dieting. I followed up wining the grand prix of Nantes 1988.
Back to Africa, preparing this time for Mr Universe 1993 in Birmingham with no placing representing Chad my country.
I've improved to make the top 10 at the Universe in 1994. Oblige to seek asylum in England where I'm actually residing.
I've trained hard ever since to win the British championship; but could only win it in 2004.
Selected to represent United Kingdom in European championship June 2005 in Poland taking 5th place & 13th in the world championship November 2005 in Hungary.
Working as a fitness Instructor in Muscleworks gym since 1996, before joining Holmes place in 2005 (actual Virgin Active).
My best achievement will be to help you to achieve your goal, so let's get started.
