Massage therapy has been practised for centuries and its effects have been well documented, telling us clearly that it is good for us. Regular practice means we become calmer, healthier and happier.
Holistic/Remedial Massage Therapy The term holistic comes from the Greek word "holos" meaning whole. The Holistic approach to treatment takes into account a person's whole being, not just the physical symptoms or problems but also psychology, environment and nutrition and the effects, both positive and negative, that these can have on the body as a whole.
About me I am Albert Dutoit, a self employed fully qualified and insured Mobile Remedial/Holistic Massage Therapist. I am a member of the Professional Association of Clinical Therapists which forms part of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
My life's purpose is to assist my clients in experiencing the joy and relaxation of healing touch, helping people out of pain or injuries, RSI conditions, chronic pain and stress syndromes.
I trained at the London School of Complimentary Health from whom I obtained a Credit pass in Holistic Massage (ITEC Level 3 Diploma). I am still continuing my training at the JING Institute of Advance Massage Training from whom I obtained my Holistic Medical Massage certification. A highly effective blend of both Eastern and Western massage, utilizing cutting edge techniques, incorporating Trigger Point Therapy, Hot Stone Fusion, Myofacial Release and Deep Tissue Manipulation for the treatment of specific injuries.
If what you are looking for is an excellent relaxation massage, do not be put off by my remedial massage background. Because of the unparalleled training we receive in “Swedish Massage” you will not get a better relaxation massage anywhere. Your massage can be as firm and deep, or as gentle as you like. Also, be assured that as remedial massage therapists, we have a far more comprehensive technical "tool bag" to ensure the fullest relaxation of all your aching muscles.
This means my expert hands and honed intuition take you on an individualized journey of healing touch, far from the routine of a spa or typical independent therapist.
You are an individual with unique needs. My hands are here to meet you with carefully crafted, instinctual, and experienced techniques all focused on your personal need and healing. My ears will listen to your words, and my hands will listen to your body.
Holistic Massage Therapy is the most healing of arts, since it relies on nothing more than the hands of the practitioner. Massage is the use of hands, or mechanical means, to manipulate the soft tissue of the body, particularly muscles and connective tissue (fascia). It can be used for relaxation, stimulation or rehabilitation of the whole body, mind and spirit or part of it. It promotes suppleness of the muscles, improves circulation and reduces stress.
Touch is used to sooth and stimulate. When we are hurt we hold the injured part. When we have been cut we use our hands to sooth the wound. A mother cuddles a child who has fallen, or when crying.
Touch affects both body and mind. An arm around a friend provides consolation, a hug indicates affection and a gentle tap on the back offers encouragement.
Touch is the first sense of life. We develop touch in the comfort of the womb where some of us begin sucking our thumbs. Appropriate touch is soothing and relaxing, creating that "feel good" factor.
Touch is a vital means of expression. People who are starved of touch can feel very isolated and anxious which then affects their well being.
Because Holistic Massage works on all major and minor systems of the body it can relieve back pain, headaches, poor circulation, rheumatism, respiratory problems and problems arising from poor posture. Most of all massage is there for all of us to use and to enjoy. Massage puts us back in touch in the complete sense of the word:
Holistically.

Massage Therapy
Massage therapy has been practised for centuries and its effects have been well documented, telling us clearly that it is good for us. Regular practice means we become calmer, healthier and happier.
So how does it work?
Under the skin massage causes complex processes to start. Hormones and "signal substances" transmit messages to the brain and back again, some stimulating and others calming. Touch is known to increase the level of oxytocin, the hormone that makes us relax, which in our fast- paced modern lives is a necessary means to restoring balance in our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being.
In the 21st century, massage has become a mainstream complementary therapy and also a part of integrated medicine as we know it. It is used throughout society on many levels and has a very important role to play in maintaining a healthy everyday life.
Holistic Medical Massage
Medical Massage is sometimes prescribed by a physician. Medical Massage is generally practiced in relation to a specific goal focused on improving health of patients. Medical Massage is helpful to individuals who suffer from an assortment of health conditions, including:- Repetitive motion injuries
- Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
- Neuromuscular conditions
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Chronic headaches
- Muscle spasms
- Whiplash
Overall, Medical Massage is a non-invasive therapy that produces beneficial health results to those experiencing numerous health-related illnesses and injuries.
Relaxing Back Massage
At some point of their lives, three out of four people will have problems with their backs. The commonest triggers are lifting a heavy weight, a sudden jerky movement, or just regulary resisting the pull of gravity like standing all day or working in front of a computer.Once the initial damage is done, almost anything (including stress) can make the muscles seize up and bring on the agony.
Remember that the spine carries nerve fibers that effects the entire body and so the pleasure of a back massage spreads from top to toe.The back also has more muscles than any other part of of the body and does most of the work of keeping us upright throughout our waking hours. Therefore it needs all the help it can get.
Fortunately the back is not only the easiest part of the body to massage, being such a large, smooth area, it also responds instantly to being rubbed the right way. With the use of various classic Swedish Massage techniques and a soothing massage oil, the lower back, upper back, shoulders, and neck is treated. For this treatment the client is required to undress to expose the whole back area.
Benefits of a back massage:
- Improves skin elasticity
- Improves circulation
- Boost immunity
- Improve muscle suppleness
- Enable deeper, more effective respiration
- Improve neural communicaton and relax the nervous system preventing muscle spasms caused by anxiety
Full Body Holistic Massage
A full body massage is the perfect way to ease away tension and restore energy after a stressful, tiring day. It is known that stress is a contributing factor to almost everything that ails modern man. On its simplest level, a little tension leaves you with butterflies in the stomach as the only physical sign. At the other end of the scale, when you suffer from constant, long term stress and mental anxiety, you can end up with headaches, insomnia, loss of appetite, high blood pressure, nausea, loss of libido, low resistance and even a heart attack.
However, stress in it self is not a bad thing, without it, we would not strive quite so hard or aim quite so high. It is how we react to stress that makes it have a good or bad effect on our bodies. As even the most serious attack of stress can be instantly relieved the second we relax, the best way to relax is to have a good massage.
Massage works by relaxing the muscular tension that builds up to cause more serious symptom. With the use of various techniques of rubbing and stroking and a soothing massage medium, tension and stress are eased away. It also relaxes an over-anxious mind by slowing the heartbeat and lowering blood pressure the way yoga for instance, does. So you feel better both physically and mentally in one go.
Benefits of a full body massage:- Improve neural communication and relax the nervous system preventing muscle spasms caused by anxiety
- Relieve insomnia
- Balance the digestive system
- Boosts immunity with encouraged lymph drainage
- Enables sustained relaxation of body and mind
- Improve body image, awareness and general self-esteem
- Increase energy levels less energy is spent in holding the body in a state of tension and strain (both physical and mental)
