Welcome to Alison Le Mar Therapies: Massage, Reflexology, Reiki and Yoga
I am a fully qualified, insured and experienced massage and complementary therapist providing exceptional care and a range of therapeutic treatments in the heart of Faversham. Based at the Gatefield Clinic my treatments can be used as an adjunct to osteopathic treatment or on their own as a regular maintenance treatment to help prevent the accumulation of aches, pains and injury.
I offer a wide variety of different types of massage styles and techniques to suit each client’s individual needs from deep therapeutic massage to massage for relaxation and stress relief. I am a registered member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists (MFHT), the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) and the British Wheel of Yoga (BWY). Membership of these professional bodies requires practitioners to carry out additional training each year on top of existing qualifications (continued professional development or CPD). This ensures skills are kept up to date and topped up with new techniques on a regular basis.

Testimonials
Below are a selection of testimonials and endorsements I've received from clients. I'm very grateful they've taken the time to write a few words down about their experience for others to read and given their permission for me to include their names with their testimonials.
“I have suffered from shoulder/ neck pain for many years. Various doctors and osteopaths have not been able to help and the mobility of my shoulder was becoming increasingly constricted. I was recommended to Alison and her massage expertise and knowledge has made an enormous difference. The relief from the aches and pain is considerable and I have more mobility in my shoulder than I have had for many years. She has also suggested exercises to do between treatments which have also helped. I have no hesitation in recommending Alison- I just wish that I had found her sooner!”
Dorothy Reeve, Faversham
“I have had regular sports massage with Alison for over 2 years. Regular massage, I believe has aided recovery and helped prevent injuries. Alison always takes time to understand any injuries or little niggles that may be causing me problems, giving me invaluable advice on stretches to help manage these. Any treatment can be tailored to you own specific needs and I would have no hesitation in recommending her to both gym users and those less active.”
Neil Levitt, Faversham
“I have had many massages over the years at different venues and although these have all been good, they do not come close to the experience I have with Alison. What makes the sessions different and so great is that every time I meet with Alison it is always individual and I feel that the session is all about my needs and nothing else and this is not something I have received in other venues where I have felt that I am just the next customer. This is not just a job for Alison, she is passionate about what she does and genuinely interested in giving me, not just the best experience that I can have in the time I am there, even down to the temperature of the room, but at the end of the treatment Alison will often offer me handouts or additional advice to help me which is really great. It is wonderful to have a space that is just about nourishing me, and this is facilitated perfectly by Alison. I cannot recommend Alison highly enough.”

Remedial and Deeper Tissue Massage
Treatment focuses on the different layers of tissue (muscle, tendons and fascia), working to relax, lengthen, and release strain patterns within them, so that the body's posture can realign itself. Particular areas of the body are targeted which are presenting patterns of strain. The treatment might focus on the legs and pelvis, shoulder girdle or neck, depending on where the strain patterns are evident.

Reflexology
Based on an ancient Chinese therapy, reflexology involves stimulating specific reflex areas in the foot that correspond to all organs and regions of the body. Each reflex is connected to nerve endings in the foot of which there are over 7,000. Similar to acupressure principles, reflexology works with the body’s energy flow to stimulate self-healing and maintain balance in physical and emotional health.

Reiki
Reiki is a gentle yet powerful healing modality. It is a therapy that can be either sensitively hands on, or the hands are held just above the body.
Reiki works by the practitioner channelling the healing energy to the recipient, which in turn activates the recipient’s own abilities to heal, whether it be on a physical, emotional or spiritual level. Reiki helps deeply relax, release blocked energies and creates a sense of ease and balance within.

Tuesday morning 10.30am to 12 noon
Thursday evening 6pm to 7.30pm
Sunday evening 7pm to 8.30pm
St. Jude's Welcome Centre, 34 Tanners Street, Faversham, Kent, ME13 7JW
All classes are mixed ability and allow for people to participate at their own level.
I usually work with an overriding theme for each block of six classes and we then explore a different aspect of the theme each week.
Each class starts with grounding, theme setting and breath work before we begin our asana or physical practice. We then have a further short breathing section or guided meditation before finishing with some blissful relaxation.
£45 per block of 6 classes or *£8.50 per 'drop in' class (*booking essential and if space available)
Yoga just makes you feel good. It is non- competitive and can be adapted to suit all abilities and levels of fitness. One student’s expression of a pose is not better or closer to ‘real’ yoga than another’s. Ultimately, your practice is for you to explore how posture and movement feels rather than how it may look from the outside. Your yoga practice is unique to you to enjoy and have fun with, freeing your body and mind along the way.

General benefits of yoga
Yoga is an ancient practice that helps create a sense of union in body, mind, and spirit. It brings us balance.
Along with the benefit of helping create a stronger, more flexible physical body, a regular yoga practice can also help to enhance your breath awareness and bring harmony to the mind and body. Yoga can be used in daily life to help reduce stress and distractions and increase focus and energy.
Practicing yoga will give you an increased awareness of your own body. You are often called upon to make small, subtle movements to help improve your alignment and explore the stretch sensations. Over time, this will increase your level of comfort in your own body. This can lead to improved posture and greater self-confidence.
Many people come to yoga simply to get a good stretch or become fitter which in itself is wonderful, but many people find that as their journey continues the more subtle benefits come into play. Every time you come to practice you’ll notice something new. That’s the beauty of yoga - every moment on the mat is a new beginning to explore, learn and enjoy yourself!
