Lacking courage to rock my boat, I stayed in my 'uncomfortable comfort zone' for far too long. My life was easy - academic success, comfortable life style, a great marriage and a generally happy life. I felt guilty at wanting more.
But, my work, though successful, had become unfulfilling. At 46, I realised that I was wishing my life away, looking forward to retirement. So, after more than 20 years in IT consultancy and project management, I took a step I had felt strongly drawn towards for some time, to train as a life coach. If only I had employed a life coach myself, when I first read about coaching some years ago, I would have found the courage to move much sooner.
I now work with others who want to be their best. This can be by making small changes, or a complete change of direction, as I did. I devour books on personal development, wake up eager each day, and I work with people who are brave enough to say "I want to be more".
"Being more" can be achieved in so many ways, but they all involve taking action. If your work is stressful, there are things you can do. If you are bored, there is action you can take. If you have goals you don't quite achieve, there are ways to bring success. Sometimes all that is needed is a change of perspective, a renewed passion, a change in attitude. Sometimes a large goal needs to be broken down into smaller steps.
As a coach, my main job is to listen to you and encourage you. When you are really listened to, you will be amazed at how much you can achieve. You gain real clarity about what is happening in your life, you take decisions, take action and see results.
