About Me
Let me introduce myself. My name is Marina Church and I am a Naturopathy practitioner. Qualified in both Naturopathy and Herbal Medicine(CNM London). I also hold Diploma in Nutrition and Health in Communities and have been teaching Nutrition at Foundation and Intermediate level working at Food Safety Agency.
I have been interested in health since my childhood, coming from the background where herbs have been part of everyday life and used holistically in the family. Herbal medicine is not a theory for me it has been a lifestyle for many years. Through my practice of using herbs I achieved positive results in helping such conditions as amenorrhea, women infertility, insomnia, hair loss, acne, indigestion, reflux, arthritis, menopause; support during chemotherapy and postoperative support.
Since studying at the College of Complementary Medicine, I have learned about how many harmful substances in the environment can affect an individual’s health and therefore interfere with their physical and also mental health. For example, certain deficiencies can have an adverse effect on an individual’s well-being, including both physical and mood imbalances. Also nutrition, draining and elimination therapies takes crucial part of the healing process. No matter what herbs or supplements you are taking, if your body screams out for detoxification, it will manifest in symptoms such as allergy, eczema or hayfever.
The approach of the herbalist, naturopath, or other holistic health practitioner, is to address the underlying, core causes of illness not the symptoms. This is why we have learned how to apply in practice the methods of diagnosis and treatments from chinese practise, for example, such as the patient's tongue examination and pulse taking, Ayurvedic method of examining the patient's constitution, Iridology covers the examination of the patient's iris. We also use traditional diagnosis applications such as measuring the blood pressure, and auscultation. In response to the diagnosis I use chinese herbs so as western herbs in different forms(tinctures, powders and capsules).
Through my experience I also have learned that rebuilding the body takes a lot longer than just addressing immediate symptoms. People need to realise, that the more chronic or serious the condition, the longer it may take for natural remedies to work, which is one reason they are not always the best choice. Sometimes you may need between six weeks to six months for herbal remedies to sufficiently support the body long enough to help your body to start to heal a chronic health condition. But on most occasions a person's body is so drained that the only choice they have is to go back on a natural path!
