About Anja Liebe
My understanding of health and nutrition has been shaped by the experiences of living among a variety of cultures across four continents.
I strongly believe that there is no diet that perfectly suits everyone or cures everything. Achieving radiant health requires a carefully tailored approach to the individual’s diet, environment, lifestyle and unique personal history.
Born and raised in Germany, I travelled extensively as a professional percussionist in Europe, West Africa and the United States. Having settled in the UK in 1998, I became a Senior Manager for a consumer health products company and studied to become a qualified Nutritionist. I now practice Naturopathic Nutrition in London, Brighton and Cambridge.
What Is Naturopathic Nutrition
Good health is more than the absence of disease, it’s about maintaining the body's essential balance. This requires the right foods, clean water, sunlight, fresh air, exercise, rest and relaxation. Illness occurs when our self-balancing mechanism - known as homeostasis - is disrupted. Acute symptoms are ‘warning signals’ develop which develop as the body struggles to restore its health, while chronic, long term illnesses occur when this healing process is suppressed.
Naturopathic Nutrition is a holistic therapy aimed at both those with specific medical conditions and those who wish to optimise their health or performance. Diagnostic techniques recognise natural rhythms, such as the seasons and the Five Element System, which for many centuries has been the focus of Chinese medicine.
Rather than viewing symptoms in isolation, it addresses the imbalances that give rise to them. Employing a combination of nutritional therapy and supporting naturopathic techniques, it empowers people to restore and maintain their natural health.
Consultations
I believe strongly that no diet perfectly suits everyone or cures everything. Achieving optimal health requires a carefully tailored approach to the individual’s nutrition, their environment and lifestyle.
The initial consultation, which takes around 90 minutes, is about getting to know you and the issues you’d like to address. Together we build a comprehensive profile of your current physical and emotional health, as well as your diet, lifestyle and personal history.
We discuss why certain symptoms are likely to have manifested and the steps required to alleviate them. The focus at this stage will be cleansing and rehydrating the body, which is essential if it is effectively to absorb nutrients.
Follow-up consultations usually last around an hour. I generally recommend at least two of these, in order to guide you successfully through the initial stages of your journey.
For the second consultation I will prepare a personalised, easy to follow diet & lifestyle programme, which is light on the wallet and includes naturopathic techniques and tips on what foods to buy and where. I mainly work with foods and superfoods and recommend supplements only where necessary and when the body is ready to absorb and utilise them.
In the third and following consultations we look at how you respond to the changes made. This allows us to to fine-tune your diet & lifestyle in order to maximize your healing capacity. Throughout the sessions my emphasis is on empowering you to understand your body, what it needs and why and to take control of your own health.
If you think it’ll involve inflicting a period of austerity on your taste buds fear not – I’ll also give you recipe ideas. I’ve tried them out on my friends and family and, believe me, they’re good.
