Then the Alexander Technique can help you
The Alexander Technique was developed by Frederick Matthias Alexander in the 19th century. He was a Shakespearean actor in the days of music hall and had been having problems with hoarseness whenever he went on stage. He went to see all the top specialists of the day but all they could recommend was rest. Having rested his voice in the lead-up to a particularly important performance, he was dismayed to find that his voice was as hoarse as ever after a short time on stage.
At this point he decided that the only way forward was to help himself. He sat down in front of a mirror and observed himself minutely as he spoke as if he was in conversation with a friend but could not identify any problems. He then repeated the process as if he was on stage reciting to a hall full of people and immediately “was particularly struck by three things that I saw myself doing. I saw that as soon as I started to recite, I tended to pull back the head, depress the larynx and suck in breath through the mouth in such a way as to produce a gasping sound.” (FMA—The Use of the Self).
Alexander increased the number of mirrors to three or four and continued this process of careful observation slowly developing what we have come to know as the Alexander Technique over a period of ten years or more.
