Sports Massage
Sports massage should play an important part in the life of any sportsman or woman whether they are injured or not.
Most athletes are aware of the benefits of massage and the effects it can have on their performance, however, there are still those who haven’t been introduced to the wonders of massage.
Sports massage has a well documented body of research behind it proving the effectiveness of different treatment plans in relation to injury types and ongoing sporting activity.
Some of the benefits of sports massage:
- Warms & stretches muscles thus improving flexibility and range of motion
- Reduces the risk of injury
- Assists in the removal of lactic acid
- Prevents blood pooling
- Reduces onset of D.O.M.S (Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness)
- Speeds up recovery time
- Extends life of sporting career
- Boosts performance
Deep Tissue & Remedial Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on the realignment of the deeper layers of connective tissue and muscles. It is especially effective on upper back, neck and shoulders and low back problems.
Some of the strokes are as used in classic massage therapy (swedish massage) but the movement is slower and the pressure deeper.
How Does Deep Tissue Massage Work?
A. Where there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (knots) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These knots can block circulation and cause pain, reduced movement and inflammation.
Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist will use one of many direct deep pressure techniques to help remind the brain there is injury within the area and kick start the body’s natural healing system.
Testimonials
"My husband and I were traveling in the Welsh Borders for 2 weeks before the Edinburgh Marathon when my husband did something to his ankle. What was supposed to be a relaxing time with the last of the training turned into him barley being able to walk out the door. I searched for a massage therapist within an hour drive and by chance found Adrienne. She agreed to see him right away and see what she could do. Well, I don't know what she did, but a week later my husband finished his first marathon in 4:31 with a smile on his face. Thank you and your magic fingers Adrienne!"

"I initially engaged Adrienne on a personal level for sports massage and was delighted with her skills.Soon after, I discovered that Workplace Stress Busting Massage was another great skill. As a result, Adrienne now visits our office at least twice monthly and all staff that wish to, take the opportunity to have a massage. An absolute must for relief from the stresses of our busy environment and the physical effects of long hours at a computer. Adrienne breezes in, with her happy face, sets up her massage chair and leaves behind equally happy faces and more efficient workers! Her charges are reasonable and I see a massive improvement in the posture and attitude of everyone in the office, after she has been.”
