Welcome to Bodhi - Works
Here, you'll learn a little about what I do and why. I'll talk a little about the various disciplines of massage and other complimentary therapies I practice, prior to your visit. I love this work. I love meeting people, and I love seeing them returning to health. I think it is fantastically rewarding seeing a person engaging with their health and well-being. It's also incredible to be able to just relax people as an occasional treat or for those holiday wind-downs.

Massage
I have trained specifically in Swedish Massage - that is to say, what most people might imagine a massage to be. Using long, flowing strokes, often but not necessarily in the direction of the heart, Swedish massage has been shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee, to name just a few examples.
I have taken this further to deepen my knowledge and skills with Sports/remedial massage, which deals with the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles, ligaments and tendons. Among other things, sports massage can be tailored to each individuals needs to positively enhance their ability to perform.
It can improve circulation & lymphatic flow, assist in the removal of metabolic waste, increase or decrease muscle tone or muscle length or assist in mental preparation for sporting participation.
Put simply, all of this gives me the ability to help those who have had recent or chronic injury. I can help post-operatively or when your body needs a bit of extra help after a minor problem like an ankle sprain or a bit too much digging in the garden. The sports element of this gives me the ability to treat any amateur sports person who may have an injury old or new and help maintain their physical well-being so they can continue to enjoy their sports.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient therapy. First recorded around 5000BC, it has been handed down over many generations until it finally reached these shores in the 1960’s. There are many different forms of reflexology, also known as foot zone therapy and, while it's traditionally practiced without lotion, as the pressure points on the feet are stimulated by thumb and finger walking, as well as static pressure, I like to use a base cream to help my hands move more gently over your feet.
I practise Precision Reflexology and the general idea is that all the points of the body are reflected in the nerve endings on the hands and feet. I usually work only on the feet as this is far more relaxing, as you simply have to sit and put your feet up!
As pressure is applied to the sole, theory says that a healthy patient should not feel any strong pain. This theory is based on a perceived energetic flow of "meridians" in the body, also known as 'Chi'.
During treatment, I rub and massage any painful spots to break down rough spots and accumulated crystals. Based on this idea, some shoe liners are made with pressure points to stimulate the soles of the feet.
Reflexology can be used to help migraines, IBS, aches, pains, strains, back problems, injuries, pain relief and general health and well-being. It's a fantastic all round therapy, and it’s great if you’re pregnant and can’t lie down for a massage. I love it. It can help you relax, even as a one-off treatment. You'll feel like you're walking on air!
