THE CANDLE
The candle, a cylinder tube (it doesn’t have a wick and is hollow) is placed in the ear having been lit at the other end and held in place at all times by the therapist. The candle contains numerous herbal, essential oil and tincture extracted ingredients, the main ones being; flax, honey, beeswax, sage, camomile, St John’s Wort and beta-carotene. Flax is the base ingredient used to make the linen like material. The material is submerged in containers for 4 – 6 weeks, which contain honey, herbal oils and extracts. The fabric is the suspended allowing excess honey to drain off. The impregnated fabric is sprayed with beeswax to help it maintain its tubular shape and to seal in the essential ingredients.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When the candle is lit and gently inserted into the ear a moderate suction action is created, lightly manipulating the tympanic membrane. For some people, in the case of excessive ear wax, the treatment is so effective that wax continues to rise to the surface for up to 48-hours after the treatment – this also depends on how much wax has built up.
As the treatment is able to stimulate the ear, nose and throat, all the sinuses can be relieved over a series of treatments.
When congestion of these areas is reduced and/or removed a feeling of tranquility, composure, comfort and relief is induced. (This can benefit those who suffer from frequent migraines or headaches). The movement and energy of the flame sends tiny vibrations down the candle, which gently massages the tympanic membrane. (The tympanic membrane is the seal between the outer ear and the inner ear – also known as the eardrum). As the tympanic membrane is massaged and excess pressure within the inner ear is released. This can be very helpful for people who suffer from pain in the ear when flying or driving.

Reiki
Reiki is a safe, gentle, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique which uses energy to heal on many levels; physical, emotional mental and spiritual.
It is a holistic treatment for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of the person - body, mind and spirit. It can ease pain and discomfort and bring about a feeling of relaxation, enhancing the quality of life.
The word Reiki - pronounced Ray Key - is usually translated as Universal life-force energy, or God-directed energy.
During a treatment the practitioner channels healing energy by the laying of hands on or just above the body, in a sequence of positions.
Clients are treated fully clothed, lying down or seated.
Tibetan Acupressure Head Massage
Tibetan Acupressure Head Massage (TAHM) is a blend of modern massage methods combined with Tibetan acupressure techniques and incorporates the traditional principles and theories of ancient Tibetan Ayurvedic medicine.
Ayurveda literally means "the science of life" and, although it is thought of as being from northern India, it is the basis of many health systems throughout Asia.
The therapy is performed with the client fully clothed and includes massage of the scalp, face, neck, throat, shoulders and upper arms.
The aim of TAHM is to stimulate and balance the flow of physical, psychological and spiritual energies of the recipient.
A TAHM treatment session includes deep relaxation which has a profound physical and psychological effects. Relaxation reduces the physical effects of stress by having a positive effect on the parasympathetic/sympathetic nervous system, reducing muscular tension and associated pain and increasing the production of endorphins - the body's own natural pain killers or "feel good hormones".
