About Pamela Wassell
Hi, how can I help you to relax or assist with your health problems?
I have been practising Alternative Therapies for many years and am fully qualified and insured for all the treatments I offer. I am always interested in learning new therapies and keeping up to date with new techniques.
As a client’s requirements are most important, I also work on a mobile basis, which enables those who are unable to leave their home to receive treatments to which they would otherwise be deprived of.
When a client calls to make an appointment I always complete a Consultation form for them over the telephone, as this saves time, it is obviously cost effective for them.
I always use Neal’s Yard Organic products wherever possible in my treatments, these are also available for anyone purchase direct from www.nirvanaholistics.co.uk

Herbal Therapy
Are you looking for an alternative to prescribed medicines?
Many people are now using natural ways to treat illnesses, be this through herbalism, acupressure, reiki, massage etc. and I am a great advocate of these methods.
Herbalism has been used within different cultures for more than sixty thousand years. We know this through the famous herbalists Nicholas Culpepper and Gaius Plinius Secundus or, as he is more commonly known, Pliny the Elder, from archaeological digs, ancient papyrus, cuneiform writings, Native American teachings etc. also via herbal knowledge passed on verbally.
My interest in herbalism started as a child, making ‘concoctions’ and ‘perfume’ as most girls of my age did (before the internet was even invented). I loved walking in the countryside, picking flowers pressing them in books which have been lost in the annuls of time. Little did I know then the power of these beautiful plants.
When I started to study herbalism, I was amazed how, by taking herbs in tinctures, infusions, capsules and many other ways, they can help to ease the ailments for which we visit the doctor and receive prescribed medication which is chemically made in a laboratory to mimic the compounds found in plants.
Herbal remedies work by stimulating the immune system and balancing the body through cleansing, regulating and toning the glands to help them function normally, nourish the body and giving it the energy to heal itself.
It may be that your grandmother or great grandmother had her own remedies for different ailments, this was because they needed to be able to treat or prevent illnesses themselves and herbs were the only medicines available.
If you are currently taking medication, you must continue with the advice given by your doctor.

Animal Reiki
It is very important to make sure that the Reiki practitioner you select is not just certified to practice on humans. Due to the differing anatomy of animals, a practitioner must also be certified to practice on animals.
Reiki treatments usually last around 20/30 minutes, although the animal will just walk away when they have received enough Reiki energy. It can be used alongside veterinary treatment, help to speed up the healing process, de-stress a sick animal and ease any pain the animal is suffering. If your pet is coming to the end of its life, Reiki healing can be used to calm and prepare them for their journey to the spirit world.
As with humans, animals take the energy they need to heal or relax, they can never overdose on Reiki or feel any kind of pain or distress from it.
To get the most from the treatment the animal must be in their normal surroundings and should not be exercised or worked for a few hours after their treatment.
Please ensure that you have consulted your vet before making an appointment.
I work on a mobile basis and come to see the animal where they are most comfortable. If this is not practical, I will send distant healing.
I will start working with the animal distantly by mentally asking if they wish to accept the healing energy. This will enable them to feel and understand the feel of the healing energy before I arrive. After the treatment, the animal will usually find a quiet place to rest.
It is very important that you always obtain veterinary treatment immediately for a sick animal, also inform the vet of your intention to use Reiki healing.
The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis.
However, the healing of animals by contact healing, by laying of hands or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals to saving life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3.

Reiki Healer/Reiki Master
Reiki is a simple healing system promoting wholeness of Mind, Body and Spirit. It is a non-invasive, subtle treatment in which healing is performed by touch or hovering of the hands, allowing the flow of energy from a limitless source to the fully clothed patient via the Reiki practitioner. It is an extremely powerful, but gentle energy which triggers the body’s natural healing abilities, improves and maintains health.
Reiki healing is a natural therapy that gently balances life energies and brings health and well being to the recipient. Reiki healing health benefits are better sleep, stress reduction and relaxation.
Reiki is excellent when suffering from physical, mental, emotional or spiritual issues. These problems can arise when the flow of "Life Force Energy" is disrupted, weakened or blocked. Imbalances can be caused by emotional or physical trauma, self-neglect injury, depression, negative thoughts and feelings, fear, insomnia, worry, doubt, anger, anxiety, stress, destructive lifestyle and relationships.
Benefits include:
- A deep relaxed state which helps the body to release stress and tension
- Acceleration of the body's self-healing abilities
- Better sleep
- Reduced blood pressure
- Relief from pain
- Removal of energy blockages, adjusts the energy flow of the endocrine system bringing the body into balance and harmony
- Assists in release of toxins from the body
- Reduces some of the side effects of drugs and helps the body to recover from drug therapy after surgery and chemotherapy
- Supports the immune system
- Increased vitality
- Raises the vibrational frequency of the body
When we are relaxed and stress-free we can restore our body’s natural ability to heal.
Reiki will restore the general condition of the body. It will open the energy channels and this will allow the body to naturally deal with stress, release toxins and reduces anxiety and depression. Regular Reiki therapy will increase the body’s natural defences and provide additional energy to recover from illness.
Reiki should not be a replacement for conventional treatment.

Aromatherapy O.A.DIP
Aromatherapy is the practice of using the natural oils extracted from flowers, bark, stems, leaves, roots or other parts of a plant to enhance psychological and physical well-being.
The aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function. Essential oils are also absorbed through the skin, where they travel through the bloodstream and can promote whole-body healing.
A form of alternative medicine, aromatherapy is gaining momentum. It is used for a variety of health problems, including pain relief, mood enhancement and increased cognitive function.
There are a wide number of essential oils available, each with its own healing properties.
Most essential oils should never be placed directly onto the skin, taken internally or dripped into the bath or water.
Always mix essential oils with a good carrier oil such as Almond or Grapeseed oils.

Seated Chair Massage
Seated chair massage is a non-invasive massage treatment which is carried out with the client fully clothed. It alleviates headache, stiff neck and back discomfort. As with all massage it facilitates the removal of toxins from the body.
In today’s fast paced world, we don’t always have the luxury of time to address these issues with conventional massage, however seated massage presents an alternative way to effectively address these problems.
It is performed with the client sitting either in a chair that has been specifically designed for great comfort and to alleviate the pressure on the lower back, it is fully adjustable to ensure that the client is completely comfortable. It can also be carried out with the client sitting on a normal chair or in a wheelchair.
Seated Massage has the added benefits of being a quick treatment. The average session ranges from 10 - 30 minutes which makes it not only time efficient but also cost effective. Another advantage is that it is not necessary to disrobe to feel the effect, nor is it necessary to be covered in oil as in a full body massage.
Did you know that:
- Research indicates a 15-minute chair massage results in decreased job stress and increased alertness
- Office workers massaged regularly were more alert, performed better and were less stressed
- Up to 90% of all visits to the doctor are for stress-related complaints
- Over 50% of lost work days are stress related

Holistic Facial
A very relaxing facial using organic products, incorporating reiki and massage.
Facial massage decreases anxiety and improves mood, which in turn significantly reduces stress levels.
Stress causes tension in facial muscles which eventually forms lines, especially on the forehead. If these muscles and connective tissues are relaxed through gentle massage their appearance can be greatly reduced and softened, especially around the brow, eyes and lips. Massaging the face can also relieve symptoms of congested sinuses, headaches, puffiness, acne, it also brightens the complexion, increases circulation, oxygenates the blood and stimulates the lymphatic system which in turn eliminates toxins from the body.

Curative Hypnotherapy
Our subconscious mind controls aspects of our behaviour and perception. Many people are aware of the benefits of hypnosis and the range of problems it can be used to treat on physical and/or emotional levels, but may not be aware of the process of a session.
The client is induced through hypnosis into a deeply calm and controlled dream like state, this feels like day dreaming or meditation, the client is in full control and will be aware of everything that is going on around them at all times.
Curative hypnotherapy differs from other types of hypnotherapy in the way it works to ‘peel away’ the layers. It then locates and identifies the problem and allows the client to access their subconscious mind to correct it.
On average, a client will require between 6 and 8 sessions, except if they are using hypnotherapy to stop smoking, this can usually be achieved in 3 sessions.

Hand Massage
Have you ever thought what you put your hands through on a daily basis?
Our hands are often the last thing we think of unless we suffer a repetitive strain injury or everyday wear and tear. Having our hands and lower arms massaged can really help to release tension and, as with all massage, it also eliminates toxins from the body.
A quick and easy way to add a little well-deserved ‘me’ time into an otherwise busy schedule, a pampering hand massage is both soothing and relaxing and a great way to nourish sore or overworked joints.

Hand Reflexology
Did you know that there are reflex points on the hands that correspond to every organ, gland and part of your body?
The hands are not as sensitive as the feet and therefore those who have problems with their feet being touched respond better to hand reflexology.
Applying pressure to specific points on the hands can help to relieve pain and assuage some ailments in the corresponding body parts. Reflexology also promotes general good health, improved circulation and eliminates toxins.

Thermal Auricular Therapy (Hopi Ear Candling)
Do you suffer with over production of ear wax, sinus problems, allergies, headaches, popping in your ears or any other ear, nose or throat problem?
In ancient times, this treatment was used for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual level, but today it is known for its more physical benefits in treating ear and sinus problems. The practice reached the modern world via the native American Hopi Indians of North Arizona (hence the name Hopi Ear Candles).
The ear candles were used traditionally by Shaman healers and ancient cave drawings have been found which illustrate the importance of Hopi candles in initiation rituals and healing ceremonies of the tribe. The candles are still made today more or less in the same way as the old traditional formula originating from the Hopi Indians.
The practice is safe, non-invasive and pleasant. The procedure is comfortable and soothing. It has a relaxing, calming effect on the whole body and recipients of the treatment will sometimes fall asleep.
The candle is made from natural ingredients, linen, beeswax and natural herbs. The candles work on the ‘chimney’ principle, by drawing impurities from within the ear. The rising air also has the effect of giving the eardrum a gentle massage, which in turn, helps to regulate pressure. Locally applied gentle warmth also has the effect of stimulating blood circulation, which can strengthen the immune system and enhance lymph circulation. The treatment is completed with a gentle face massage which helps stimulate acupoints and drain the sinuses.
Hopi Ear Candles are ideal for all ages and especially beneficial for children and elderly people. Use can bring relief from many conditions associated with the ear, nose and throat, including discomfort from ear wax build up, sinus congestion, pressure in the ears, headaches, migraines etc.
