Services
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy massage is the therapeutic combination of essential oils and massage. Essential oils possess natural healing properties and can be helpful for many health conditions.
There is a part of the brain called the limbic system which controls emotions, the regulation of memories, and influences the nervous system. When you inhale essential oils, messages are sent to the limbic system, which in turn have an effect on heart rate, blood pressure and the immune system.
Indian Head Massage
Indian head massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practised in India for over a thousand years.
The client sits in a comfortable chair for the duration of the massage which lasts about 30 minutes. There is no need to remove clothing and, if possible, it is a good idea to wear a cotton t-shirt for comfort. The aim is to release stress in the tissues, muscles and joints of the neck, shoulders, arms, head and face using a variety of massage techniques.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a relaxing therapy which involves applying pressure to specific areas of the feet. The theory behind reflexology is that there are reflex points in the feet relating to specific organs, structures and parts of the body, and that stimulating those reflex points can bring about a therapeutic effect in other parts of the body.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is often used by athletes as part of their training programme, as well as preparing for competition, and to aid recovery. However, anyone can benefit from sports massage as it is a deep tissue massage and is used to treat chronic muscle tension, repetitive strain injury and postural problems.
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage was pioneered by a Swedish physiologist, Pehr Henrik Ling, at the University of Stockholm in 1812. It is the foundation for other types of western massage, including aromatherapy and sports massage. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension using a sequence of movements working both superficially and at a deeper level.
